I was up and running with this in less the 30 minutes. The only reason it took that long was that I had to install an outlet in the electrical power box that my opener gets power from. Works great and keypad is very easy to use. I don't know how long the batteries will last since I've only had it a month.

I needed a replacement for a wired keypad opener and after searching around decided to buy this one. You need to plug the receiver into an electrical outlet and run it's 15-foot wire to either the wall button or directly to the garage door opener itself. I wired mine to the opener since the most convenient power outlet was the one the opener was plugged into. The keypad fit nicely in the door trim and the code was very easy to set up. It took all of about 20 minutes to remove my old keypad and get this one working. 2/11/2010 - I gave this item four stars because I had trouble at times with not being able to key in the code and opening the door due to a lack of battery power. I removed the batteries and pressed the contacts closer together and all has been well - even in 20 degree weather. 2/19/2010 - Today I had to replace the batteries to get the door to open. I had entered the code and the keypad beeped the required three times but the garage door did not open. I tried adjusting the receiver antenna but it still wouldn't work until I replaced the batteries. I hope the new batteries last longer than a few weeks or this device is going to get a one star rating. Right now I'll give three stars. 3/26/2010 - I am back again after having to replace the batteries yet again. They were fresh Energizer CR2032 batteries and they lasted, at the most, 5 weeks. This makes the opener totally useless especially since the person discovering the dead opener had no house key. I will be contacting the company next week and I will report back here - but for now I have to give this opener one star. 3/30/2010 - I emailed customer support and they have been very responsive and asked me to send the keypad to them for service. They didn't say specifically that they think the batteries should last longer but since they wanted it I can only assume. I will report back after I get the new/repaired keypad and have used it for a while. Until then, I will have to keep my rating at one star. 03/09/2011 - I received a replacement opener last year but hadn't installed it until today. (I thought about it a lot, though!) The batteries have been in it since I got it last May and they are still good. I'll give it four stars for now and see how things go from here on.

Does not always work,

Easy enough to install. But does not always work. After entering the 4 digit security code, the door only opens about 50% of the time. The other 50% it would remain closed. Sometimes it would take about 5 tries before it works.
