Works with SC-001 Control Panel,

This review is from: Skylink AA-433 Audio Alarm (Tools & Home Improvement)
This audio alarm works great as a secondary siren for your Skylink system, but there are a few things to note when using it through the SC-001 control panel:- The "ARM" light on the audio alarm doesn't go on, even though system is armed. - The siren on the audio alarm only goes off in one of the "armed" modes. In testing mode MPIN A #, the siren doesn't sound at all. - The audio alarm doesn't beep when you arm/disarm your system. - Program the audio alarm to the control panel. Don't program sensors to the audio alarm. This will cause you major headaches. Also, the antenna that came with mine didn't fit well. It was a tad too long at the bottom, where it plugs into the audio alarm, so I had to cut off a bit so it'd go in all the way. Overall, this audio alarm serves it's purpose. It's loud and I can arm/disarm it through my control panel. BTW, I purchased the standalone AA-433, and the sticker on the back of the unit says model AA-433D.

Only one drawback...,

Overall I like this product (and the entire system)... this product really only has one drawback: it doesn't participate in system "beeps"... while it DOES alarm when the system ALARMS, it doesn't beep when the system arms/disarms or when the system count-down timer is going. I would have liked it to do this because my main console is in an area that can't be heard very well throughout the house. A lot of times you can't hear the various system chimes -- which would have been substantially improved if this component did more than simply sound when the system alarm was triggered. :(Otherwise, it's nice and loud and works well for it's main purpose. Eventually I'm considering getting 2 more: 1 for my garage and 1 for my backyard... to make my alarm REALLY NOISY. Currently, with this speaker and my main unit's speaker, the system is loud enough that anytime you are near them they actually hurt and disorient you). Not bad. :)

Poor instructions are the only complaint,

I have just finished puzzling my way through the installation of the Skylink autodialer, alarm, temperature and flood sensors.I have a lot of experience with electronics and excellent reading skills. The documentation is dreadful, and probably not proof-read [for example, the final page of Audio Alarm AA-433 manual switched from English to Spanish -- in the Spanish manual I found the final page was in English]. There are frequent poor translations from Japanese or Chinese to Japlish or Chinglish. Nowhere in the documentation or on the Skylink website is a system overview or schematic, showing which components work with which other components. It was not clear to me that the ONLY way to arm the Audio Alarm was to use the key chain or control pad, so now I have to order one of THOSE before the audio alarm component will work properly. Nowhere is it clear that individual sensors must be programmed to the dialer and separately to the Audio Alarm -- I had to figure out that for myself, and then test the system to make sure that programming a sensor to one device did not deprogram the sensor with respect to the first device]. Nice hardware, but the points mentioned above I AM SURE reduce user satisfaction A LOT and probably lead to a lot of unnecessary returns. Also, Skylink could probably charge higher prices if they dealt with the issues described above. As it is, Skylink is vulnerable to a competitor who deals more effectively with the human factors aspects of the product.
