Product Description

Product Description

Save money by passing on a full security system and installing the Skylink Wireless Security AD105 Emergency Dialer and Panic. The Emergency Dialer sends your personalized emergency voice message to preprogrammed phone numbers. When you have an emergency, just hit the Panic button on your included transmitter, and the Dialer will immediately send your emergency message to the phone number you choose. Let family, friends, or authorities know when you need help at a moment's notice. The Panic Transmitter conveniently fits on any keychain or necklace. It allows you to activate the Dial-Alert at a distance of approximately 100 feet from the dialer. The transmitter is water resistant and shock resistant, allowing you to carry it wherever you go. Rolling Code Technology: Every time you press your remote transmitter to turn the security system on or off, a code is generated which is recognized by the receiver that in turn performs the desired function. With most security systems, there is only one assigned code. Whenever the remote is pressed, it generates the same code, making it vulnerable to code grabbers who use electronic scanners to steal the code. With rolling code technology, each time the remote is used, it generates a different code.

The bottom line: the product works. Before giving this to my mother, I tested the transmitter from every room in the house including the basement and even submerged in hot water in an upstairs bathtub. Virtually every single time, the transmitter successfully signaled the dialer to call the emergency number and deliver my pre-recorded message. I like that the product is a one-time cost rather than a recurring monthly subscription; I like that it features a 9V battery backup in case of power outages; you do need a home telephone line to use this.

The slightly negative element is that the company has lousy communication about pretty much everything. First, I ordered the Skylink ED-100, but they sent me the Skylink AD-105. It turns out that the ED-100 is obsolete. Second, they included instructions for the AD-100 instead of the AD-105; the AD-105 has an additional operating mode that completely messed me up because it's not mentioned in the AD-100 instructions. If you receive the wrong instructions, do an internet search for "AD-105 manual" to get the proper instructions.

The information about the transmitters is confusing as well. I've spoken with the company, and they have confirmed that the PT-434 Boxy, Pendant-like Transmitter is WATERPROOF and can be taken into the bathtub and the swimming pool. The

Somewhat disappointed in this dialer - mostly because of Skylink's misleading website. The website says the dialer itself (which is an AD-105) has multiple zones and multiple messages that can be programmed. This is not the case. There is only one zone and one message. When using this as a stand alone security device to place a call whenever any sensor is tripped, you can only send one standard message. So you do not know what triggered it... was it a motion detector, a door sensor, a flood sensor??? In the end, it works for me, I just programmed a message to say an emergency exists at my address, but I wish Skylink would update their website with current, correct information. Also, the programming is rather tedious and non-user friendly. Also, there are no instructions included to tell you how to use the dialer with the sensors their website tells you that it works with. I was able to find those instructions on their website eventually and got everything working, but this was not an easy process. Forget about technical support - I tried calling two different times and both times I got an answering machine. I do not recommend this product.

My wife and I bought this for my Father-in-Law b/c he lives out of town. I hooked up the dialer at my house to program the numbers of family and record a message for him. Programming takes some time and you have to follow the directions carefully. I had a problem until I put in some pauses during the dialing process. When I took it to his house, I had to reprogram it b/c a 1 was required for long distance. After programming, I rotated the antenna up and out of the case, and tested it around his house. Worked in every room inside and also outside at the end of his driveway.

Negatives: Speaker volume is low. Does not give feed back (dial tone / ringing) while dialing so hard to troubleshoot programming issues.

Now, the problem is getting my Father-in-Law to carry the alert button with him!

bought this dialer for my mom. She lives alone. When you make the message, be sure and speak into the microphone and speak loudly. Our message is not to loud, but we will know what it is, if she ever has to use it. Can't make the dialer to stop calling after a person has pushed the # key on their phone. It continues to call everyone on the list of numbers. We can live with that. Not the easiest to set up, but I figured it out, so you can too.

Worked well for awhile. Then one day when we were gone from home it dialed emergency numbers and sounded the home audible alarm systems. Our neighbors and a family member found our home was still secure and had not been burglarized. Warranty period had expired. Fortunately, we did not program police 911 into it. Other Skylink accessories work fine.
