I ORDERED THE OPENER TO REPLACE A DAMAGED SENDING UNIT ON MY OPENER. INSTEAD OF BEING SIMPLE (AS DESCRIBED) THE HOOK UP DOES NOT JUST HOOK UP TO BUTTON WIRES ON WALL. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE SUGGESTED THAT MY OPENER NEEDED LASER LIGHTS FOR DOOR OPENING. WHICH THE PACKAGING NEVER MENTIONS NOR DOES THE ADVERTISEMENTS I HAVE SEEN FOR THIS PRODUCT.

The product works unreliably through the garage door (plastic coated metal). It may be a battery issue, but I expect battery life to exceed 3 months. The handheld transmitter is marginally more effective than the keypad (previously purchased). Email support has been very good. Telephone support is mediocre.

Opener worked perfectly for a week. Receivers LED stopped lighting and working. Still works as a push button switch just doesn't receive signals. I ordered another receiver from a different seller and it doesn't work at all. I should have just bought a new opener and saved myself the hassle but I have used Skylink replacement transmitters at other places and they worked well for years.

Our marantec garage door opener was down to one remote so I bought a replacement remote through a local home improvement store. Imagine my surprise when I found it didn't work, and that no recent remote would work. Although the garage door opener was bought and installed in 2003, Marantec changed the frequencies and discontinued the type of remote that would work with its systems. The only option appeared to be either replace the whole opener or buy this conversion kit that would cost just as much as a new opener. Then I found this product.

I was a little worried but at Amazon's super low price, I decided to give it a try.

5 stars. Does exactly what it needed to do. Super simple to install and works like a charm. Now we once again have two remotes that will open our garage door. This product saved me a ton of money!

I didn't know that such a product was out there to buy until I saw that a friend of mine purchased this item and I ordered one right away and works really well

I do not consider the remote small or light enough for a keychain,
but having only a single button and being smaller than visor remotes is good.
Range is comparable to that of larger remotes;
it would be worse if dangling low from an ignition switch.
The receiver wants more voltage than is available
at the button for Stanley openers from the early 90s.
Although a 12VDC supply is specified for older installations,
a 9VDC wall wart sufficed.

I don't know why somebody didn't think of these things sooner. Bypass your huge garage door opener and use this keychain remote. Now I can carry an opener on my bike and don't have to worry about making sure I have my remote with me. If I have my key, I have my opener. The only downside in my case was that my old door openers do not supply power to the button through the existing wiring. An AC adaptor is available through the manufacturer, but they give you all the specs on their site, so I just matched up one of the umpteen power supplies I have from old drills and cell phones to get it to work. If that doesn't work, you can swing by a local supplier with your needs and you're good to go, but you'd have to have a really old opener for this not to work right out of the box.

Its real easy to put in takes about 5 or to 10 minutes to hook up.But the keychain remote is worthless it will not open the garage door standing half a foot away from it! I've tryed everything to get it to work no luck. Its a good thing I also bought the Skylink G6V Visor Clip Remote it great I can open the door 100 feet awat from it! You are best to buy the Skylink G6VR Visor Clip Remote Set.you will be happy.

I currently live in an apartment, and the garage door opener remote is a full size single button unit...great for your car/truck, etc. I own a motorcycle though, and the bigger remote was a pain. I had to store it under the seat where it barely fits, and take it out again when I got home and needed to open the door (especially miserable when it starts pouring rain on the way home)

I got this remote set, and literally had it installed in 2 minutes. Its a simple two wire hook up, with no polarity requirements. This means just put the wires together no +/- to worry about! I screwed the receiver unit to the stud in the wall, straightened out the antenna, and synced the remote to the receiver with a single button press on each unit.

The remote operates great, with a lot better distance than my previous unit...and having it on my key chain is gonna be great once motorcycle season starts up around here!

I have an old Sears Liftmaster. I went to Sears for a replacement remote and they couldn't help me because the opener was too old. I purchased the Skylink remote, installed it as instructed, and it worked perfectly. If you have a button on the wall wired to your opener, this remote will work.
