Ok as an alert, not good for security,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
First of all, the base unit is very small, not much bigger than a deck of cards. That's not a bad thing, it just looked bigger in the pictures.
It is fairly easy to set up and works fairly well, although it was a little hard to get the sensors working at first. The trouble with this item is that it gives false alarms. I have 2 sensors, they light the #1 and #2 light on the unit. However, soon after I started testing the #3 light started rapidly blinking. I don't have a sensor 3. And twice the alarm has gone off when it shouldn't have. I have #1 in my living room, I was home alone and it started beeping. I thought "what the heck?" and went out to the living room, nothing and no one was there. That was creepy though. My #2 sensor is pointing down my basement stairs. Tonight as I sat here at my computer out of the corner of my eye I saw #2 blinking. Unless it can detect a mouse or something, there is nobody down there (or IS there?) I think they need to redesign this unit with some sort of unique coded signal from the detectors so that there will be no false alarms. Otherwise, it's maybe good as an alert to let you know that someone is *probably* there, but not for actual security, it would make you paranoid with the false alarms.

Too many random false alarms,
By For the most part, the product is pretty easy to configure and detects motion well. The critical problem for me was that out of the 7 detectors, 3 of them were defective in terms of giving off random false alarms, several times per day. (The other 4 worked perfectly.) At first I thought it must be due to the detectors being overly sensitive to shadows or insects or something, but then I put all of the detectors in a closed shoebox for several days as a test, and these 3 still gave off occasional false alarms, so they were defective. I'd recommend going with one of the slightly more expensive alternatives such as the RWA-300R Reporter, or if cost is no object, the Optex Annunciator.
