5.0 out of 5 stars Love it for Keeping in Touch With Family December 28, 2012
Verified Purchase
Skype is the perfect app for face-to-face contact with family members when you don't live close. It is so streamlined and simple to use. I frequently pull this app up and let my 3 year old Skype with her grandparents who we no longer live close to. She gets a kick out of being able to see them, and it feels more personal than a phone call. In the 1+ year I have been using Skype mobile services, I have never had it crash, though it is slow to load at time. Overall, it's an amazing app that we use on almost a daily basis.

4.0 out of 5 stars Skype video calls December 3, 2012
Verified Purchase
It's ok, but video calls are jerky, lagging, even a I5 16gb memory pc's, and Vizio, Android tablets with 32Gb memory, all having access to a 30+ cable speed network. But it's a novelty.

1.0 out of 5 stars Skype is NOT For Tablets October 1, 2012
Verified Purchase
I have a 7" EMATIC e-Glide Steal that comes with a forward facing camera. This is what I tried to download and use SKYPE on. For some reason SKYPE works great on my laptop and it worked great on my old desktop, but the tablet is another story. It seems to see the tablet as a telephone and refuses to access the camera. I tried to use my current account, which it could not recognize on the tablet; I tried to set up a new account, which it refused to see as anything except a telephone, so I gave up and deleted it. Maybe it is the hardware that poses a problem, I don't know, but in my opinion SKYPE is not the same on a tablet as it is on your PC. Be warned to avoid the frustration I went through.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent and Very useful app April 26, 2013
I have used skype app on Android platform for over 2 years. I have used phone calls using skype on Nexus One from airports, video calls using skype from HP Touchpad Ice Cream Sandwich, Kindle Fire and Galaxy Note II. I used for meetings for over 2 hours and video clarity was amazing on HP Touchpad. Overall skype is excellent
- For phone calls - where 3G is not available (I usually have $10 credit handy)
- For video calls - interviews, meetings, music classes
- Test call is very useful and I never had a bad experience

5.0 out of 5 stars Galaxy Note 10.1 February 5, 2013

First I would like to say that it was free, you cant beat free anything these days. Its the best way to keep in touch with family. Im in the military and me and my wife use it to talk to our family back home, it keeps us all togather. Its way better than talking on the phone, why would you when you can see the face of ur spouse when they are deployed or your parents that you havent seen for some time because you moved or close friends you want to share your new experiences with. Those are things to consider when looking for an app to basically use to reconnect with certain people. I love it, and I wouldnt choose anything else. Besides you can even make calls and do other things with it, they do cost minutes if u want to make calls but the video calling is totally free and the app is free. Cant beat it. 5 stars all the way. Recommended indefinately.

4.0 out of 5 stars Seems to Work Well..... January 3, 2013
Verified Purchase
I have only used Skype several times for video calls, but it appears to work seamlessly and smoothly. When installed. it configured itself automatically to my tablet's mic, speakers, WiFi & camera and worked well on the first call. The only reason I didn't give it five stars at this time is that I had to stumble through the menus and selections to find the features and actions I wanted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Well on the Samsung Galaxy SIII December 11, 2012

It allows my daughter to see her grandparents who live halfway across the state. It also allows me to use a skype number as a Home phone, and a decent IM client, too.

I am having the same issue! I am so annoyed with this as their cousins moved away and that was how they got to stay in contact with them. I am really unhappy with Skype right now.
