ONE AGAIN THE GUEST RAPPERS MAKE THIS ALBUM,
By
This review is from: Sky's the Limit (Audio CD)
MAGIC IS A GOOD RAPPER, HIS VOICE IS TITE, BUT HE CAN'T CARRY THIS ALBUM BY HIMSELF. C-MURDER IS ON A FEW TRACKS, FIEND AND THE REST OF THE SOULJAS OF NO LIMIT. THE ALBUM IS GOOD..NOT GREAT..BUT GOOD. FOR THE RIGHT PRICE THIS ALBUM IS WORTH PICKING UP. ($12 - $15) AT MOST. BUT IF YOU ARE A COLECTER THEN THIS IS A NO LIMIT MUST. IF YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW THIS.. FIEND,MAC, AND SOULJA SLIM ARE THE ONLY MC'S THAT CAN CARRY AN ALBUM BY THEM SELVES. THOSE THREE ARE A MUST HAVE FOR SURE.
ANYWAY, THIS ALBUM IS GOOD 4/5 STARS.

When I bought this cd, I wanted it, but I didn't REALLY like MAGIC. I listened to it and I didn't really like what I heard of it. Then I got to "BALL 'TIL WE FALL" and I LOVED that track. The CD got a lot better the more I heard. Other PHAT tracks are "WHEN DRAMA CAME", "I NEVER" and "GIMPIN'". Get it!

After comin' hard on C-Murder's CD and Mac's CD, Mr. Magic hasn't shown what made him special. He sounds like 2Pac at times (Which is neither a compliment nor an insult, just an observation), and his songs aren't that good for the most part, especially after one of the better album intros ever. The Intro is one of the album highlights. It is a 25-second commercial-esque buildup to a fictional movie starring Magic. This is where he states "My names Magic, Mr. Magic". After the Intro and the first two songs, one could be deceived into thinking that this was a good release, but it is not. "Ghetto Godzilla" with MP is a good song, and "Did What I Had 2" with Mystikal is excellent. "Did What I Had 2" was the song where Magic sounded like Pac the most, particularly in the third verse. Whether he sounded like Pac or anybody else, it was Mystikal that made the song. Mystikal continues to ascend to levels that no other N.L. rapper (or any other rapper period) can ascend to. Most non N.L. fans will use these nine tracks as more fuel to add to their claims of how wack No Limit is, and will likely not make it to the couple of other good songs, because they will turn it off. Even TRU N.L. fans will have a hard time making it from song 4 to song 12. Finally Song #13 "No Limit" will play, and cause listeners to perk up again. "No Limit" is probably the second-best song on the album. With C-Murder and Snoop, the beat is pounding and hypnotic, and Magic teams up well with his labelmates. I have been a Snoop fan for a long time, and though I was skeptical of his album and his earlier releases with N.L. because he doesn't really fit in, he seems to be finding his niche. After superior guest appearances on Big Ed's CD, Snoop provides another on "No Limit". Doing the third verse, he ends the song in a fitting manner. The next song "New Generation" with Fiend and Mac, is also a good song with an less than ordinary beat. After "New Generation" (Song #14), all listeners (haters, casual fans, and N.L. junkies alike), should press stop on their CD players or tape players, and bang their heads against the wall for buying this CD. It really would have gotten 2 stars, but "No Limit" and "Did What I Had 2" are too good to ignore, so I gave it a 3.

Average No Limit Album,

This album is another average No Limit album from 1998. Magic has a distinctive voice and flow but is sometimes outshined on some of the tracks such as New Generation featuring Mac and Fiend. Production is decent at best on this album but tracks such as Ghetto Godzilla, New Generation, and Ball till I fall are above average. Magic follows the standard No Limit album with enormous amount of guest apperances. Overall this is just another decent album from another No Limit artist that does not to seperate him from the pack. Pick this up only if you're a no limit fan.

Average debut from Magic,

This review is from: Sky's the Limit (Audio CD)
Magic, one of the newer members of No Limit's huge roster, finally drops his debut album. After hearing hiim on C-Murder's albums, I liked his vocie and delivery so I checked this out, and the result was nothing more than average. Like most No Limit releases of this time, there are too many songs and guests (which in his case isn't a bad thing). He only has 4 solo's and 1 song song where someone does the hook, so of the 21 songs, guest rappers are on 16 of them (all No Limit artists as well). Of the 21 songs, I'd say 6 are good, 2-4 I skip, and the rest are average. Production is decent and mostly handled by the Beats by the Pound crew. KLC does 6 songs, O'Dell & Craig B each do 4 songs, Mark Dogg does 3, Mo B Dick, Master P, DJ Daryl, Carlos Stephens each do 1 song. I'd pass this one up unless you're a huge fan of his.

Magic sucks and has no flow but c-murder makes this cd tight,

Magic in my opinion is a bad rapper, but the fact that C-murder was in a lot of the songs made it a very decent cd. The best songs are ball til we fall, No limit, Money dont make me and hard times. For a no limit cd 4 tight tracks is pretty good. I give it 4 stars because those 4 tracks are the bomb and I can listen to them over and over and not get tired of them. So get this cd if your a no limit fan, or borrow it from someone and record the good songs on to a tape.

Another tight release from No Limit,
This review is from: Sky's the Limit (Audio CD)
This album is tight despite the fact that Magic, one of No Limit's hardest rappers, came out kinda soft on it. The 3 best songs are Depend On Me, No Limit, and Mobb 4 Ever, but other tight songs on here include Ghetto Godzilla(even though it's hella short), No Hope, Take It To Da Streets, Money Don't Make Me, Gimpin', and Special Forces. The rest of the songs are ok except Chastity(dedicated to his fiancee) which is totally wack. Check it out!

Not too shabby,

This ain't bad, but it ain't nothin special, he has a lot of phat piano backrounds, but there are too many slow songs, there are a few good songs, like Ghetto Godzilla and money don't make me. But other than that, this isn't very impressive. This doesn't even sound like rap most of the time, it sounds like R&B. Thats how slow it is.
