The zippers seem tough, the wheels are sturdy and the handle hardware functions well all in a lightweight unit.

The bag can barely stand up on its own when it is empty, much less when it is packed.

This is the exact bag that I needed for travel. I hate checking bags when I fly so this was a good investment ($47 is what I paid for the black version). The bag wheels roll smoothly, the handle is big enough and long enough to hold/roll comfortably (I'm 6'3"). On the lid there are two compartments on the outside and one big mesh one on the inside. There are two elastic straps on the inside of the main compartment for holding your stuff tightly. The retractable handle has a zipper cover as well. I have been handling it and the construction feels sturdy and the zippers gave me no problems (although they feel a little stiff around corners).

The reason I gave it 4 stars is that I have one concern about the dimensions of this bag. From front to back it's just under 9 inches (that's good, it has a little room for fill). From side to side it's 13.5 inches (not 14) from my measure -- again, that's fine, leaves a little room for bloat. From top to bottom when standing the bag is closer to 25 inches, not 22! This takes into consideration the standing height (including on it's wheels). Is there a chance it might not be accepted as a carry-on? Possibly, but doubt it.

Overall, I would recommend this bag. I'll update with a comment if I have any problems flying later!

I purchased this luggage specifically for carry-on when flying on regional commuter aircraft that have smaller overhead bins. After four regional commuter aircraft flights, I can state that the size is perfect for that. While other passengers were having to check their larger intended carry-ons at the gate or have the luggage taken from them at the aircraft door, this suitcase rolled down the aisle and fit into the overheads without problem.

My only complaint with this luggage, and the reason it didn't get 5 stars, is that the added carry loop strap with the plastic snap connector provided at the top to temporarily hold additional luggage rubbed the middle joint of my middle finger whenever I used the top carry strap to lift the suitcase. I have a medium size hand. A man with large hands will have a larger problem. The problem would go away if the top carry strap was longer or styled like the side carry strap or the added luggage carry loop wasn't there. Since I never use that added loop, I'm going to cut it off my suitcase to keep from rubbing my finger on it.

    Update:
I've upgraded my review from 4 to 5 stars. Two years later and this is still my carry-on suitcase for commuter aircraft. I never did cut off the top strap since I discovered that my hand fit as long as I grabbed the top handle from the back side of the case. That still may not be true for someone with larger hands.

Last month I had two flights on USAir CRJ900 Regional Jets. They were taking away almost everybody's roller bag at the aircraft door. When they tried to take mine, I assured them that it would fit, was purchased specifically to fit in the overhead bins of commuter planes, and I had traveled with it on such aircraft before.

I you're worried about how much this luggage can fit, read forward. If you want decent quality for a decent price and don't care much about size, don't read this review as this bag would be perfect.

Quality vs. Price (not tested, just observed)- very good:
This luggage seems to be good quality and sturdy (the handle wobbles a little bit, but still sturdy) even tough I didn't use it on any trip... so I can't back this claim with real usage, it's just what I observed.

    Size (tested) Not good:
Before I bought this luggage, I read thoroughly all the reviews. One reviewer mentioned that the sizes aren't really 22 x 14 x 9 but instead (and I'm rephrasing) ~ 25 x 13.5 x 8.5. I thought it's ok since the heights makes up for the other small differences.

When I received it, it was actually less than 21 inches and closer to 20 inches. I have a 22 inch carry on that I'm replacing that is not expandable, and I placed this on top of the other one and the size difference it obvious. I can almost fit this one in my old on.

I then thought that since this one is expandable, that maybe I can get more room in it (which is a very important thing for me), so I filled it as much as I can possibly fill it until it barely closed. I then took the items and fit them in my old 22 in, non-expandable, and the items fit easily.

One more thing related to size: On the luggage itself, the manufacturer had a picture of the full set and had this one labeled as 21 inch, not 22. I think the 21 includes the wheels as well.

    I'm returning it.

Quite satisfied with the Skyway Sigma 3 Carry-on case. It will replace an old Skyway carry-on case that was damaged after years of satisfactory use. The new one has extra features, like being expandable, and having extra external compartments. The price was right and I received it FAST. Totally satisfied so far.

I've had a Skyway bag since 2006. The previous bag made it through more than 90 flights as both a carry-on and a checked bag. It was starting to show its age, several of the zipper pulls were missing, the handle extension was slightly bent, it was time for a new bag!

I looked for a new Skyway bag and came across this one. One big factor in the purchase... the price was good, less than $40.

When I got the bag, it was smaller than expected. My previous Skyway carry-on will fit much more. It's good for a weekend, but any more than that and you'll be looking for a bigger bag. It does have a strap on the front for carrying additional luggage, but I do wish it was removable like my old bag.

Since I paid only $40, I'll keep it... but I'll keep looking for a bag better suited for my needs.
