3.0 out of 5 stars Great price, nice size, zippers come apart on ours
We were very pleased with the price, free shipping, and speed of shipment. It was exactly as ordered. We have used this piece for two trips. Unfortunately, on the first leg of our first trip, the zippers on the carryon kept separating. No matter what we do and how carefully we pack, the zippers separate. We are going throw this item away. We have several pieces of Skyway luggage, including this model. All of them take a beating and still look and work great, so I was surprised by the other reviewer's problem. Our zippers work very smoothly, including the interior ones, and the zipper pulls are generously-sized with rubber inserts. Many bags just use thin metal ones that quickly break off after rough handling at airports.

In addition to the sturdiness and ability to retain it's good looks, the organization of the bags are clever and you can choose from some unusual colors, making it unlikely anyone can mistake your bag for theirs.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a great piece of luggage, July 12, 2010

I needed something carry-on size for future business and personal trips and I really needed to be frugal about my purchase. I was a little worried about this bag at first because of some people saying it wasn't very large - and then I reminded myself that I was looking for a carry-on bag. They really can't get any larger than this. If you need a bigger bag, it simply won't be a carry-on...not per the airline guidelines, anyway.

I went on a little vacation a couple weeks ago and I found that the bag performed wonderfully! I was actually going on a fairly long trip (leaving on a Wednesday morning and returning the following Sunday morning) and EVERYTHING fit into this bag. Given, it is summer, so I imagine having lots of shorts and short sleeved shirts helped, but I was able to fit: 1 pair of jeans, 3 pairs of shorts, 1 skirt, 1 cocktail dress, 5 shirts, 2 cardigans, 1 thick sweater, pajamas, undergarments, 1 pair of sandals, 1 pair of sneakers, 1 pair of very high heels and some toiletries. My 'personal item' was a backpack, in which I put my laptop, liquids and a few smaller items.

I am also happy to say that it fit into the aircraft's overhead compartment with the expandable section out, which was a huge relief. Although, it would not have fit if I had anything in large front pocket (hence my liquids went in the backpack).

I was on a CL-65 on the way home, so they gate-checked all of the rolling luggage. When we arrived at our home airport, my bag ended up falling off of the conveyor belt on its way up to the jetway. I had to stand there and watch it fall right off the end when it reached the top because the baggage handler had his back turned and didn't grab it in time. Suffice it to say, there is no damage to be seen despite a good 20ft or so plunge...which I thought would surely be to its doom.

In short (well, too late for that), it's a great bag and I'm a very happy traveler!

For our trip to Mexico I bought my wife and I new carry on bags. Mine turned out to be pretty worthless, this for half the cost is great. I was looking for something small since customs at LAX is such a zoo and I hate those passengers with the HUGE "carry ons" that take up all of the overhead space, bump me going down the aisle and have to be crammed into the compartments while the passenger or stew doing the cramming is bumping into me (there, got that off my chest) . I was also looking for something light enough so my 5 foot 3 inch (so she claims) wife could get in in the overhead without trouble.

The layout is very good and for a bag so small it takes a ton of stuff. The front pocket big enough for flip flops or my Asus 10 inch netbook in its sleeve. The hold down straps are elastic (rather than cinch down, a negative imho). The light construction may cause a durability problem over the long haul, no evidence so far but worth mentioning. Since we are here for a month and checked bags down here (for liquids that we have trouble buying here, etc.) and will carry on going home, the expansion feature worked very well.

Update: Did have a bit of a durability problem. It is still working but looking tired. It has been in nine countries, on planes, trains, cabs, street cars and buses. Checked, carried, drug down rough streets, bumped up stairs, thrown in trunks.

I just ordered another. We are off again and I don't want any problems. The first one would probably be fine but for the price and free shipping it is not worth the risk.

The first, I bought it for my wife, then two trips later bought one for me. Hers has more mileage on it. That is the one we are replacing. These are great.

Light, hold a ton a stuff and are moderately durable. Happy travels!

5.0 out of 5 stars So far, so good, January 11, 2007
I purchased this Carry-On for my daughter who had major complaints about toting non-rolling luggage her first trip home from college. She's only used it on two flights but the second time this roomy little Skyway supported a larger (checked bag) from the shuttle drop-off to her dorm, quite a walk. The wheels corner well and the bag seems pretty sturdy. She's very happy with it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Other than the broken handle..., November 25, 2010

This review is from: Skyway Sigma 2 21" Vertical Carry-On Case (Apparel)
The good:
Wheels roll freely and it is a solid frame and well-made bag. The main top zippered compartment is perfect for a Kindle or paperback. The bottom compartment is handy for paperwork. Lockable zipper heads is a nice touch. Zippers are solid, so are the zipper heads.

The bad:
The small zippered compartment on top is mostly useless. Keys or spare change is about all it's good for. The elastic straps inside the main compartment are awkward to get to after the bag is packed. I never did get used to where the main zippers come together. The expansion feature is minimal and hard to figure out its zipper too.

The ugly:
The second time I extracted the handle it broke. The plastic sleeve which holds one side in place came out, and the metal catch which keeps the sections together popped loose. Each time I used it, I had to pop the catch back in place. Very annoying.

4.0 out of 5 stars Spacious, durable and just the right price, June 7, 2009
I have taken it on 10 flights now. Just after buying I took it on an international flight. I changed 6 planes throughout the round trip and this masterpiece endured all of them very well. It fits the luggage compartment very well and is pretty durable. The price is just perfect. A good option to consider before going for the pricey brands. I would have given 5 stars but I took off one star just because it has a tendency of toppling to one side when its full, so sometimes I need to rest it against something at an angle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice little bag... after I cut off the strap to attach additional bags, April 18, 2008

I have only had an opportunity to use this once since I received it. I was able to fit everything I needed for a four day (three night) trip. More than that would have been tricky. It's smaller than a lot of other bags out there... or at least appeared to be based on how well it fit into the overhead compartment compared to others trying to stow bags.

One of the first things I did was cut off the strap used to secure an additional bag. No matter what I did with it, it was in the way. The buckle interfered with the handle on top of the bag. The strap was dangling and ready to get caught on something if not in use. If they could find some way to make that detachable it would be a huge improvement.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great bag with one little flaw, May 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Skyway Sigma 2 21" Vertical Carry-On Case (Apparel)
This bag is absolutely great. The price is half than others with same features on the market!
One tiny flaw to consider: does not stay in upright position when you are in line for security, passport check, etc.; and if there is a chance to hit someone behind you, or annoy you for no reason, it will fall flat on the face, 110% guaranteed. It is amusing in a way :)
Easy to prevent it by turning it, so the front would face you, or an other bag.
Otherwise, it stays in the baggage compartment, or in the car, so you are fine.

Knowing this, I would still buy this one without hesitating, instead of the others: after all the design is great, and I was feeling lucky that I got a great bag so cheap!
Color is perfect too (I have a black one and this); better than black because does not show wear or stains like the black does.

This item is light and holds a BUNCH of stuff, especially if you roll your clothes. I took it on it's maiden voyage this last weekend. It was my first attempt at packing only a carry-on (I am a NOTORIOUS over-packer). I was thrilled about how much it held, and that it was really easy to pull and was very light-weight so I could put it in the over-head compartment easily (it fit perfectly in there). It does tip if you over-fill it, but that's completely worth it for saving the $25+ fee for a checked bag!
