I found that writing in the book with a Micron Pigma pen works better than a ball point pen because the pages have some type of coating that makes the pages sturdy and smooth but a little slick.
Because it's a paperback, it is easy for me to stick in my purse and take it on the road with me so that I can write whenever I have a few minutes.
What I also love about this journal is that some journals although they are called blank journals still include lines to write on or quotes or spaces to put the date. In other words, this is not a diary. You can go at your own pace, write as large or as small as you want, upside down or sideways. And you can still add visual elements to it as well.
So if you want a space to do some writing (or drawing) and you want a some-what blank canvas to express yourself, I highly recommend the Skywriting Journal.
Instead it has beautiful pictures of sky, land and water to quick start your thoughts into
My BFF moved to Florida and it was the perfect gift to give her as we said our goodbye's after 26 years.
I will buy another one for my Grand daughter, and for myself.
It is the perfect gift for any age, and especially for aspiring writers.
The only cons are firstly, it's not great for water-based inks like fountain pen ink, and probably washable markers. It will absorb fp ink (rather quickly, in fact), but especially in areas printed in darker ink, it does not look vibrant. Kind of to be expected but it does limit your choice of writing utensil.
Most of the photos are light enough that writing still stands out but there are one or two pages with areas of dark shading where you won't be able to see your writing. It's nice to look at but turned out to be annoying and wasteful to skip over.
The positive points outweigh the negatives. There's something about having an entire book filled with nothing but photos of the sky that makes it so much more appealing than just a single photo. I pulled out a sheet from the center of one of the folios to use as a cover for my Seven Seas Writer and it's nice, but it also kinda doesn't have the same magic.
