Really fun book!,

This review is from: Slacker Girl (Paperback)
Fun book- I thoroughly enjoyed it! A quick read with lots of wit and charm! The heroine calls her briefcase her 'griefcase'---natch. (Now I do too. ) Koslow knows how to sling the whole downtown chic vibe but is never condescending or too cool for school... It's got an edgy groove but is still entirely relatable. The story is cute but the real heartbeat of the book is the author's voice- flip and cynical, yet still insightful and optimistic- all the while being completely hilarious. That's something special and exactly why I'd love to read more from her. And I'd love it to be something with 1st person narrative - maybe even a memoir or somethin' like that. Anyway this book is great for poolside while sipping a cocktail- preferably on vacation, cause it will make you wanna go on one .

Great Book,
This review is from: Slacker Girl (Paperback)
From the cover art this book looks like it is a fun light read. After finishing it, I discovered that not only does it live up to my initial impressions but that it also has a deeper message hidden in the light satirical and witty banter between Jane and her friends/enemies and frenemies. This is a great read.

I'm amazed that some would not love this book. It was hilarious. Jane's obserations of the uptight workaholics around her are a riot. This book is written in a smart & witty way. I've passed this book along to many. FUN, Fun, Fun all the way thru. I love how everything seems to work out for Jane. This is a laugh-out-loud read.

Cheap and superficial, even for brain candy,

I CANNOT believe so many people liked this book, I really can't. Granted, everyone likes something "fluffy" now and then, but this wouldn't even qualify as "fluffy". Maybe its just me, but I found the main character Jane so shallow and self-centered that I was almost disappointed that things worked out so well in the end for her. The plot was so predictable, and just flat. I have never put a book down without finishing it, and I honestly couldn't fully read this one to the end. I'm a twentysomething working New Yorker girl, and I found this an embarassment to my breed! :)

Finally something really funny!!!!,
This review is from: Slacker Girl (Paperback)
I laughed out loud reading this book! That's the true test for me, and I feel like I got a lot of bang for my buck. It's so refreshing to read a fun light book with some truth to life, but without being "preachy". While I do not see myself coming to work late everyday so I can 'speak to the universe' it has made me think about what is this all for. Kudos to Ms. Koslow and her perfect sense of humor. Great fun read gals!

A feel good book,

These days, it's hard to come by a fun and fast paced book with a great message. Don't compromise yourself and the universe will bestow your wildest dreams unto you (or just what you needed anyway). I would love to read another Jane Cooper adventure, maybe Ms. Koslow could start a series. A movie could be fun too. Definitely recommend this enjoyable read.

A Disappointment and Not Realistic What-so-ever!,

Do yourself a favor and do not read this book. The beginning makes for a fun read until you realize everything about the book is predictable and terribly written. Most of the book is filled with dialogue, which showcases the author's writing skill. The story-telling becomes pointless drab, where suddenly everything goes right and perfectly for main character when she does not deserve it AT ALL. The main character is unrealistic and a complete slacker. I wish she got hit my a car at the end of the novel, but alas, that wouldn't be a perfect ending. I am glad I only rented this book at the library.. Save yourself time and money by choosing a better read!

DELICIOUS, This book made my week,
This review is from: Slacker Girl (Paperback)
This books is a jewel and I simply loved it. Jane Cooper is a true slacker, what she values above everything is leisure.
I think I really liked this book because I do work for a corporate and some situation (see the firing speech given by Leetsmann and Jane hilarious remarks ) really made me laugh: This is from an "interview" scene: "Gotcha." This job is going to suck. Ray should have just said, "This job is going to suck some ass. And when it's done sucking ass, it's going to go and suck some more." That would have been a lot more direct. Although, maybe he doesn't think it sucks? Nah, impossible. I also love leisure and I am a huge fun of New York and Foxy Hipster Guys who blush easily. The thing about me is that I can't read romance (with a few exceptions as jennifer Crusie and Julie james) because I usually find that male characters in romance are very masculine and very boring, this is why I stick to chick lit and characters I can relate to. You don't expect reality from a chick lit and certainly not from "slacker girl", what is so great about this book is the way Koslow is opening every chapter with a wit sentence like "Dynasting noun : When your future depends on acting like anyone in the cast of Dynasty", the bantering dialogues between Jane and Rebecka, the way Jane's mind works (I could really relate to her "to achieve list" but for the Celebrity thing) and Ray (who I totally feel for). I read some bad reviews about this book but from my prospective It will have to be a 5 star!

I don't understand why some people really didn't like this book. Of course it's going to be a bit predictable like every other chick-lit book, but honestly at times I wasn't sure what was going to happen. I loved how Jane was who she wanted to be and did whatever she wanted to do. I work in NYC in a very competitive job and I only wished I could have the same balls that Jane has. I love how she speaks her mind and is chill about most things in life. The author did a great job with how Jane's mind works and I found it hilarious how my mind thinks the same way!
This book was entertaining and fun...I feel sorry for those individuals who wrote the critical reviews..they are missing out in life.

Fan-f*cking-tastic,
This review is from: Slacker Girl (Paperback)
Reading this book was like reading my own diary but with more flair and more sass (and more action). I loved getting an inside peek into Jane Cooper's head, her friendship with her best girl, her denial and then submission to true love, her growth as a person. Most of all I loved the optimism and belief that when you ask the Universe for what you truly want and deserve, she delivers...in spades. Really fun read with lots of heart.
