A band with great promise,
By Robert L. Thompson III (Columbia, MO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Slacker Jesus (Audio CD)
I heard about this band over the internet and decided to check them out. Featuring music that is kind of in that spooky-core vein ala Coal Chamber's s/t cd, with a bit of techno added into it, great bass, and some wicked guitar work, although the drums are kind of weak and the music is not quite as heavy Coal Chamber. It's the vocals that steal the show featuring Matt Zane whose psychedelic sounds are just mind-blowing, at times sounding like 3 to 4 different people. So even though the music at times can get boring and the lyrics repetitive and annoying this is still a great cd. Check it out.

Electro-hardcore at it's finest.,

This is something new and cool. I like it when my friends come over and they're like "Who's this band?,they're cool!" It's not like "Oh you're listening to that new Korn cd again. This cd is a good one to listen to while driving too. It's really fast at times and hard but takes you through some tripped-out zoning as well. It has a very Now electronic edge.

Society 1 kicks ass!!! I saw them at the Whiskey in hollywood and they were awesome. The music is heavy as hell and they mix in some great electronics, not to much, just the right amount. Best songs are Help Me and Thinking Is The Link. you got to check these guys out!!!

A band to represent Generation X,

Definately a band with good energy. It's easy to find yourself becoming lost in the excellant drumming as you follow it through the songs. The singer gets you ready to do this in the beginning as his hypnotic voice takes you over. If you like Coal Chamber or Manson, you owe it to yourself to pick this one up.

These guys are definately ahead of their time. I've seen there shows live and they are more than just musicians. They are life changing experience. They are definately not some corporate label's slave. Heavy bass lines ring through you. Drums keeping you in line. The singer has a great presence. Keeps you coming back for more.

Better than Manson's Remix & Korn's Follow the Leader. It was shocking.

this album is horrible. do not buy this album. people will probably buy this album simply because the lead singer used to be a porn director. but take my word for it, dont buy this. its like a nu-metal/industrial train wreck. the singer also claims that he follows a "left hand" religion and that he has two sides to himself: Matt Zane and Lord Nexus. Hahahaha. Come on, he sounds like a Power ranger.

This band was promising, then i actually listened to the singer talk and i have to say i've never seen someone so fake, its like he's looking at the camera listening to him, and wondering what he should do next. I like real people, and this is completely a sales pitch. The whole idea, i've seen them live and if it wasn't for the nude women on stage, i would have thrown something. I create better music than this, and you'll never know, because i'm not willing to put on a mask, or sell you violence and sex because i'm really just a bore; I choose to just be me.

Great new Heavy/death metal band with PROMISE!,
By Dylan from Dark Utopia (Austin, Texas USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Slacker Jesus (Audio CD)
I heard about this band on (...) Magazine video. I had never heard so I checked them out. All I got to say when I heard them. *HOLY $HIT!* The first track is awesome. The only track that isn't heavy is Slacker Jesus. Each track is incredible. Awesome techno effects in the backround. My personal favorite track is track 13 " Living ". Awesome death metal. Its really a shame how much lack of attention these metal bands get. Not enough radio stations give these bands a chance to make it and they don't play these bands enough or even at all. GET THIS CD IF YOUR A METAL FAN! Society One has a unique and differant metal sound. Very very heavy guitars and bass. A great slight techno effects in the back round and Matt's raging loud screaming lyrics. BUY THIS! I know what good metal/death metal sounds like. I am in a Heavy/death metal band myself making it pretty big. We are Dark Utopia. I am Lead guitars and back up vocals. BUY THIS CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
