The Slanket Blanket- Adult Blanket in Hunter Green

There are now quite a few different companies making these sleeved blankets and given how popular Slankets became last Christmas, its not surprising to see so many different companies trying to take advantage of what is no doubt a very good idea. As anyone who lives in colder climates will tell you, there are times when you wish you could just stay bundled up in your blanket and with a Slanket you can. A Slanket is basically a blanket with sleeves. This allows you to have full use of your hands and arms while remaining completely covered with the blanket. It may look a little funny but its functionality is so nice that you quickly learn to not give a rats behind what you look like while wearing a Slanket. I use it for reading, using my laptop and playing my xBox360. The days of having cold arms while the rest of your body is nice and toasty are over.

Out of all of the companies making sleeved blankets, Slanket is without a doubt the highest quality. I have seen first hand most of the other versions and they just do not compare quality wise. The one in particular that you should stay away from is the Snuggie. They are usually sold in a 2 for 1 manner which should tell you something right off the bat. Overall they are extremely thin and the fleece starts pilling after just a couple of washes. Slankets are made with much higher quality fleece, are much thicker and I have yet to see any pilling and I have washed some of my slankets at least 15-20 times.

For those who are unschooled in the different qualities of fleece, pilling occurs when the garment's fibers roll up, often after being washed, and lie on the surface like tiny round pills. This pilling effect seriously effects almost every aspect of the fleece including how it feels and its ability to keep heat in. All fleece pills eventually. You can tell how old a Patagonia Synchilla jacket is based off of how much pilling has taken place. High quality fleece doesn't pill for quite some time and cheap fleece starts to pill almost immediately. For example it literally takes years before Patagonia fleece products begin to pill. Again I had serious pilling after only 2 washes with the Snuggies and I am well over 20 washes with some of my Slankets and they still haven't shown any sign of pilling yet. The bottom line is that Slankets are made from a much higher quality fleece. Anyone who tells you differently simply doesn't know what they are talking about.

Its important to note that there are 2 separate versions of the Slanket floating around out there. There is the main version which is sold through the Slanket website. The vast majority of slanket's currently in the marketplace are this kind of Slanket. The 2nd version of the Slanket is the one that was made to be sold exclusively through QVC which, in case you don't know, is a home shopping network. The QVC Slanket is actually considerably different than the original version. The most obvious differences are the thickness and overall softness. The QVC Slanket is much thinner and much softer than the original version. The Original version really feels like a Patagonia Synchilla fleece jacket and the QVC version feels like the fur on a rabbits foot. The final difference between the two is in the sizes. The QVC version is much shorter than the original and this is because it was designed so that one could actually walk around while wearing it. You can still walk around with the original version Slankets however its far more difficult as its a couple feet longer which makes it very easy to trip on. You usually have to bunch up and hold the bottom of the Slanket if you want to walk around in an Original version.

I actually own 2 of both Slanket versions and to be honest I don't have a favorite. I like both versions about the same as they both have their strong points. One thing is for sure and that is that both Slanket versions are vastly superior to anything else on the market. If your interested in buying a sleeved blanket then you really shouldn't even consider buying anything but a Slanket. Overall they do exactly what they are supposed to do. What more can you really ask for.

Bottom line - A cold weather necessity!!

I was actually on the QVC website last night and was absolutely blown away at how many Slankets they now sell. Last Xmas they had only 1, which I described in my review. That meant in total there were 2 different kinds of slankets, the one on Slanket.com and the special edition QVC version. Well that is simply no longer the case. QVC now has 4 different slankets. They have the one they sold last year which is called the The Slanket Deluxe (66"x62"), I actually purchased 2 of these last year. In addition they also now have the The Slanket Fleece (95"x60"), the The Slanket Youth (48" x 48"), and The Ultimate Slanket w/Foot Pocket (80"x60").

The Ultimate Slanket with Foot pocket sounds interesting. Here is QVC's description "This new version of the much-loved wearable warmer trumps the original with the addition of two pockets: a bottom pocket to keep feet toasty and a front pocket for your hands--and for stowing (or hiding) the remote control"

Anyways I figured I would update this review with these new versions.

Most of you are reviewing the WRONG PRODUCT. The Slanket and Snuggie are two different items. You need to review the right item. People are giving the Slanket bad reviews because they think it is the Snuggie. Do you not notice the name?

The Snuggie is the AS SEEN ON TV on and it is the one that comes with the reading lights. The Snuggie comes in three colors, and the Slanket comes in TEN. The Snuggie is buy one at $19.95 and get one free, and the Slanket is one for $44.95- Big difference.

Anyway, for my review:
My husband and I each received a SLANKET last year for Christmas. They are great blankets. I use mine to play games (like xbox), use the TV remotes, and snuggle with my son. I even turn it around and use it as a robe when I was breastfeeding my son. It's super handy and it keeps us warm. I use it without the arms or with, it is comfy either way. It is super long, even for my 6 foot husband. The Slanket is 95 inches long, so that is nice. The Slanket is also soft and washable in the washer. We have used our almost every night this winter. They are handy to have around, especially for those lazy nights of watching TV...or naps.

I got a Slanket for xmas and it is actually 95" long and the material is plenty thick. Part of that length is bunched at your neck, but still hangs 2 feet past my toes when I'm in my recliner (I'm 5'8"). $110 is absurd. Just wait until the Slanket website (not the Snuggie website!) has them in stock again, a couple of weeks.

Yeah, I made the mistake of ordering a couple of Snuggies last winter. I'm a fool for bad commercials. Sadly, the Snuggie sucks as a blanket. It is too short and the fleece is super thin and full of static at all times.

That's why, when the weather started getting colder this year, I ordered a Slanket. The Slanket is awesome. It is long, plenty long enough to cover your feet when you stretch out on the couch. The Slanket is made of a nice, thick fleece that doesn't seem to attract static.

I'm throwing my Snuggies away and living in my Slanket.

I received mine yesterday. It is thick and long. Exactly what I expected it to be. Some of you guys are slandering the WRONG product with your reviews. You are referring to the snuggy. This is a SLANKET! The SLANKET is what you want. It is worth the money. All you have to do is look at the product specifications of the slanket versus the snuggy. The slanket is 5 pounds. the snuggy is 1 pound. So yes, the snuggy will be thinner. REDEEM the wonderful brand name of SLANKET!

I have so many friends that make fun of the Snuggie for so many reasons. They hate the commercials, it's just a backwards robe..etc.etc... the SLANKET is NOOOT a Snuggie. It is far better. It is MUCH better quality. It's softer and it is much more durable. My boyfriend got a Snuggie last year and I got a Slanket...this Christmas, he wants a Slanket. It took him months to finally admit that I had the better blanket but he finally did, via his Amazon wishlist. This blanket has almost become my 'wooby' or like my 'Linus blanket'...I carry it room to room because it's so soft and comfortable. The foot pocket is great as well as the hand pocket. It's super plush and it really is worth the cost. As I said, do NOT get this confused with a Snuggie. You can't beat a Slanket.

This is quite possibly my favorite birthday present ever. I have had mine for 3 years. It has held up with my dog snuggling with me and constant washing.

The Snuggie simply can't compare - the fleece simply is not the same quality.

I purchased three of these (moss, apricot, and yellow) for the family at Christmas. I based my purchase on internet reviews and blogs. There was a predictable collective groan as each of the packages was opened; no one could believe I had purchased something as dumb as (what people now refer generically to as) a "snuggie". For the last time, folks, THIS IS NOT A SNUGGIE!

The cynacism soon faded: they were long enough to keep everything warm; they were plush and soft; they felt thick but not cumbersome; they were convenient. They first time we all sat down to watch a movie they were quickly all taken. They old throws were folded up and put away.

Quality? The colors are nice. First time I laundered them I cleaned about a teaspoonful of lint out of the dryer filter. No evidence of pilling of any sort. No stray threads.

Pricey? Perhaps a little. Worth it? I think so. Anything negative? One thing: every time one of us is curled up in a Slanket the cat wants to sleep on them. She's never been a lap cat at all, but she loves these things.

I got both a Snuggie and a Slanket for Christmas. I have to say the Slanket is way better. Its longer and way softer. It has a pocket at the bottom for your feet and one for your hands. I love to snuggle up with it on the coach. If you are trying to decide between the Slanket or the Snuggie without a doubt choose the Slanket!!!

I have used my snuggie almost every night while watching TV. We try to keep the temperature at 69 so there is still a nip in the air downstairs. This past weekend my hubby grabbed my other snuggie. The snuggie did not fit around him so he did not use it. My computer search was on to find an extra large snuggie.

My search revealed a slanket. I am the one that is always cold so I wanted a slanket for me too. I ordered Sunday night with Amazon Prime, and the slankets arrived yesterday, Wednesday. Cannot say enough about Amazon Prime. It costs more and yes, I have spent more, but I get my items quicker. Saves me a trip to town.

I used my new slanket last night. It is thicker, bigger and longer than the snuggie. I love the extra warmth. I have room to wrap it around my tooties. I kept saying this great, this is great, then I was asleep in my chair.

I measured the snuggie difference this morning: Slanket is 9 inches wider and 22 inches longer (may be 20). Hubby has a 50 chest so he will have the extra 9".

So far I am happy with my purchase. I will update when I launder them.
