Slapped Out Of It To Get Into It,

This review is from: Slappers (Dig) (Audio CD)
Just listened to this CD for about the 100th time since I bought it. It will have to go on the shelf with one of my favorite albums of all time. Musically the songs jump around a bit, but there is a common thread of background sounds and gorgeous drums march us through the land of Dani Siciliano's smooth/harsh/soft/sharp soulful-poppy-spooky vocal shifting, a bit reminiscent at times of Roisin Murphy's vocal style(s). I'm not going to say "who came first?" I am just saying, this CD is similar to work in the same bloodline, such as that of Roisin Murphy and Moloko and Matthew Herbert and if you're into all that, you'll be way into this.

BE MY PRODUCER,
By
This review is from: Slappers (Dig) (Audio CD)
Dani Siciliano's sophomore outing entitled "Slappers" is an amusing and creative concoction of blips, "everyday" sounds, synth riffs, unintelligle lyrics and siren harmonies that she and hubbie producer, Matthew Herbert are known for. This go round Dani ventures more into experimental territory especially on tracks like the opening "Slappers", "Why Can't I Make You High", "Too Young", "Think Twice", "Repeats" and "Wifey". Tracks like the hypnotic "Be My Producer" and the oh so seductive "Big Time" are reminiscent of tracks from her debut "Likes..." Dani's vocals are a bit more impressive than any of her previous work, although some will disagree. Regardless, "Slappers" comes highly recommended and further shows why Dani Siciliano and Matthew Herbert make such beautiful music together!

Good album... Guess I was just expected more tracks like those from her recordings with Herbert!
