4.0 out of 5 stars ULTIMATE SLASH March 4, 2011
Format:Audio CD
The biggest problem when Slash released his debut album earlier this year was that he included bonus tracks that were only available in certain countries, so many people were left without certain songs such as Fergie's & Cypress Hill's version of Paradise city, Alice Cooper & Nicole Scherzinger "Baby Can't Drive", as well as songs by Beth Hart and Koshi Inaba. Well now with this 2cd 1dvd Deluxe Edition all these are included and a whole lot more!

Also included on the bonus cd are 5 live tracks, 4 of which are sung by Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy, which include an acoustic version of his own track from the album "Back from Cali" as well as Acoustic versions of Velvet Revolvers "Fall To Pieces" and Guns N' Roses "Sweet Child Of Mine", both are good versions and shows that Kennedy was definitely the right singer to take on the road in support of the album, we also get a full rocking version of "Nightrain" which is outstanding! Instrumental track "Watch This" also has a live version and while it doesn't match what Slash did in the studio with Dave Grohl and Duff Mckagan it still delivers. The big dissapointment is that Nick Oliveri's(ex queens of the stone age) track "Chains and Shackles" isn't included and that is a pity, however "Nothing to Say" sung by M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold is basically the same song just different lyrics and production and is included on the main album, it would have been nice to have both versions.

The Dvd includes a making of the album video and shows how all the different singers prepared for their parts as well as the different techniques they all go through, and of course they all talk about what an honour it was to work with Slash. Slash also does a track by track review which is interesting.

3.0 out of 5 stars Another Rip-Off October 7, 2010
Format:Audio CD
Sorry to burst your bubble JonO, but this was totally up to Slash. Produced & marketed by him without the pressures of a record company wanting this, that, or the other. See his video interviews online he has done where he says he enjoyed not having to bow to the record company demands.
( [...]) (5:20-5:42)
Just proves the 'independents' are as bad as the conglomerates. I see Ozzy has 3, 4+? versions of Scream out now!
Otherwise, I totally agree with you. Why wasn't this put out at the start?, I'd have paid the extra for it. but now it's just a bad taste & another 'Extras' album I won't be getting.
There's only so much the fans will put up with, and repeated versions of the same album with an extra bit here & there doesn't cut it. Make it all available on day one & let us choose which version we want or can afford!
5 stars for the Album, 1 star for the rip-off

5.0 out of 5 stars Nobody rocks like Slash January 25, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is an excellent album on disc one, and disc two has real gems with the rap version of Paradise City, Fergie on Beautiful Dangerous, acoustic Sweet Child, and live versions from concerts. No one out there is rocking like Slash right now. They play loud, they are aggressive, and the music is great. They change the set list to include new songs. I think Slash has taken it upon himself to save rock n' roll. This is an album for those who love to rock, you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slash, Plain and Simple December 30, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This truly is an album for the fans of Slash. His versatile guitar style is really put to the test when he tries nearly every genre, except country. You might think that this departure from the hard rock standard he has created would dampen his playing, but in fact it's the exact opposite... He blazes through each song with almost unprecedented accuracy and precision. The music is simply the best on the market right now, right up there with Alice Cooper's Welcome 2 My Nightmare, which I would also suggest if you enjoyed this album.

Now, as for this particular version of the album, I would have to say it's unbeatable. Mine came with a Slash guitar pick(which I've been putting to good use; the image on the pick has stayed intact), an advertisement offer for his poster (which I'm afraid to say has expired now, I should have ordered when it came out), and two discs. The first disc was the original album, which I've already stated was wonderful. The second disc is a grab bag of goodies from Slash's past, present, and, with a little luck, his future. There's some more work with Fergie and the Black-Eyed Peas, some great song demos, and a blistering English version of Sahara that I just can't stop blasting.

With this album, you just can't stop rocking. It has my seal of approval.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it January 17, 2011
By L. Lee
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
We didn't get the CD when it was new, so we were very happy to see a deluxe version. It made a great Christmas gift for my husband, who plays the guitar. The songs are awesome, and the bonus features are pretty cool. I'm glad we waited.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great rock! October 14, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Fantastic box with many new songs recorded during the album sessions. Also live tracks, acoustic versions and great DVD with insides of the Slash album, interviews and live performances. A must to buy for anyone who love international version of this CD.
And Mother Maria is the best song on this compilation!

2.0 out of 5 stars In Slash's defense... October 13, 2010
Format:Audio CD
In Slash's defense a lot of the bonus stuff (concert video, live concert tracks, music video) were created after the album was released. The problem is that you can find all of the bonus footage and more on youtube for free. The 2 demo tracks are interesting but not worth the hefty price of admission.

This type of re-packaging worked well in the early 1990's when we didn't have the internet. While this is a great rock album, there just isn't enough interesting bonus material to draw repeat buyers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slash is G'N'F'nR!
With this masterpiece, it becomes quite clear that Slash was the driving force behind Guns N Roses.

Slash and Myles
Not at this stage, I would like a DVD of the acoustic set he did with Myles (no drums or bass) when he was in Australia, that was a MAX Sessions and it was amazing, a DVD should be released...I'm sure bootleggers have already run the market dry.
