Well, it used to be pretty good at least. Most videos don't work on the mobile edition, but eh, livable. What has recently begun that pisses me off to no end is, half the time I open the app, the add screws up and fails to load, but it has to open a separate browser and dink around for 15 seconds before it admits failure. 75% of the time this happens when I open a specific topic (eg news, life, etc). And every single god damn time I open an article it does this. So sometimes I get to watch it screw up for a solid minute before I get to read anything. Not that much time, but too damn much time.

If you're a Slate fan, you'll be happy to know there's an app for that. I have it loaded into a Kindle Fire, making the provocative stories and news of the day immediately available. More good reads for the Fire and the price is, well, it's free (as of this writing) so yeah for that! Enjoy.

This app shuts down almost immediately upon opening. Unacceptable. I really like the Slate website, but this app is a complete fail. If Amazon cannot offer better apps for its tablets, I will be returning my Fire HD.
