5.0 out of 5 stars My favourite album
This is by far my favourite album I own, and I own hundreds of albums (the majority in metal - mostly black metal). Right from the haunted beginnings of Goetia to The Danse Macabre you will be hooked.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good album
Reviewing this about 4 years or so after I bought it. I did not ever listen to it much, I enjoy more of the blackmetal sound then the vampire goth sound for music. If you enjoy Cradle Of Filths older stuff you may really enjoy this band. Especially since Cradle has went major mainstream Goth crap rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favourite album, September 11, 2003

This is by far my favourite album I own, and I own hundreds of albums (the majority in metal - mostly black metal). Right from the haunted beginnings of Goetia to The Danse Macabre you will be hooked.
Alot of people dismiss Hecate Enthroned (at least the first 3 albums - in my opinion the only good ones) for being a Cradle of Filth copy cat. They may have similar vocals and instrumental tracks but once you have listened to this album a few times you realise that those things are vastly different from CoF. In my opinion, the vocals are much more screamy, with alot more feeling. I am not dissing CoF (at least early CoF) but I just think Hecate Enthroned are far more superior. Hecate Enthroned uses the acoustic guitar in a few songs which also adds a nice touch. Every song on this album is engulfed with emotion, whether it be sadness, or anger - it is brilliant.
Stand out tracks, if I had to choose them, would be Beneath a December Twilight, The Spell of the Winter Forest and Within the Ruins of Eden.
Buy this album. It will be one of the best purchases you ever buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars "The Slaughter Of Innocence, A Requiem For The Mighty", June 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Slaughter of Innocence (Audio CD)
Music: Uses the instruments well and with great variety. Varied guitar-riffs and also varied (and inspired by church organ) keyboard sessions. Vocals: Screaming. Not the typical dark voice but more strident. Not many bands has this aort of vocal. Lyrics: Long, varied and has long words. Quotation from #9: "Ruins of Eden, savage of the demons, and shall spread his wings of eternity. Ripping forth through heaven and unto my dark angel. The fortress of this flesh is lonely and possessed, to a place where time and space are death, on a stagnant pool against the shores of Valhalla." Instruments: Keyboard, electric and acoustic guitars, bass and vocals. Themes: Anti Christianity and satanism. I give it 5 stars for well-composed music, lyrics and image. 1 of the 5 stars is for the song titles on this album - check them out ... Total time: 47 min.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad..., April 22, 2003

So the singer sounds just like CoF's Dani Filth, circa 'Dusk..& Her Embrace'...BIG DEAL! Why does this seem to be such a bone of contention with everyone? 1,000 vocalists sounded like Tom Fischer (Warrior) after Celtic Frost debuted, but so what? Makes sense that if he can well pull off the Filth vocal, then go for it! Doesn't really matter who came first, as long as there's QUALITY in songwriting, musicianship, etc. This is a pretty good effort, and since Dani Filth's vocal style appeals to me, it's nice to be able to hear it from a band other than CoF. Every band is an extension of a band that came before it, to some degree. Amazon offers snippets, so 'don't like it, don't buy it'. I bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hecate Enthroned -The Slaughter Of Innocence, September 12, 2000
This review is from: Slaughter of Innocence (Audio CD)
I cannot begin to describe how great this band is. I've been a fan of Hecate Enthroned since their inception. Their is no other black metal band who even comes close to capturing the combination of hatred, anger, and heartfelt sorrow the way that Hecate Enthroned does. And trust me, I've heard it all. This band has such passion in their music. Very powerful stuff. They let you release your anger with their intense aggression and then they drown you in sorrow with their beautiful melodies and atmospheres. And you can tell that the vocalist really feels what he is saying, as he puts his emotions with the music perfectly. Few bands can really touch you the way these guys do. Hecate are constantly being called Cradle of Filth clones. This is absolutely rediculous. It's obvious that alot of people need to listen to music more. The only similarities between the two bands is that they play a "similar" style. Hecate is different lyrically, in image, are more aggessive, and certainly of a darker nature. And in my opinion, they capture the true essence of sorrow way better than Cradle. I'm not knocking Cradle, as I am a fan of them too, but these two bands are totally different. And for all those who still say Hecate are Cradle rip-offs, truth be known, Hecate was doing what they do before Cradle of Filth was around. So bottom-line. If you like your black metal with blasting drums, aggressive guitar, hate-filled vocals sang with passion, and beautiful keyboard atmospheres it just doesn't get any better than Hecate Enthroned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real Gothic Savagery at its best!!!!, September 14, 1999

Darkness fell upon the cold, foggy nights of England. Excellent horror imagery, the Soundscapes they are using bring vivid visions onto my mind. The vocals just complements the way they play, it could either brings sorrow or rage.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth buying, when you have cash to burn, May 31, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Slaughter of Innocence (Audio CD)
This album in my opinion was good. Although the vocalist sounds like Dani Filth, from Cradle Of Filth, his voice is in no way are clear or crisp as Dani's. Other than that the album was worth a listen to. The keyboards were nicely done as well as the guitar, the drumming could have been better however.

5.0 out of 5 stars Orchestral Death metal at its best., March 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Slaughter of Innocence (Audio CD)
These guys remind me of a lot of band, yet they have their own style in many respects. They have lyrical impressions of Cradle Of Filth, and the keyboarding sounds of Agathodaimon. It is a cd well worth the time and money. This band is excellence at its best from a band. Its addicting, even after the first song.
