Editorial Reviews

In this third film of the "Mikogami" Trilogy (The Trail Of Blood & The Fearless Avenger are the first two films), Jokichi's success at getting revenge has resulted in a hefty price being put on his head, and it’s only a matter of time before he runs into Kobunji, the master of the throwing knife, who, while he really likes Jokichi, has his professional reputation to uphold. But just because you have to kill a guy doesn't mean you can't enjoy getting to know him first and do a little male bonding by offing some villains. But in the end, there can be only one... nothing personal, mind you, it's just business.

This is the conclusion of the "Mikogami" Trilogy.

4.0 out of 5 stars The "Trail" Runs Cold January 18, 2007
By amster
Judged on its owm merits, this is an excellent Samurai film, a perfect mix of arterial sprays and pathos than fans of the genre come to expect. Having said that, I came away disappointed. Why? No closure.

These films were marketed by Animeigo as the Mikogami "Trilogy", but this is not a trilogy. This is a series of films that apparently stopped getting made after the third installment. I assumed that this film was going to tie up all the loose ends, and that the third and final villian would meet a grand and glorious death. I was wrong.

While I would still recommend these excellent and highly entertaining films, you should know before proceeding that you'll never get to see the conclusion. It was never made.

4.0 out of 5 stars No Closure January 29, 2009

I would have to agree with the other review. Although, a good samurai film and a decent story line, this movie completely strays away from the first 2 films. There is no closure. Jokichi does not gain vengeance.
This is why I gave this film a rating of 4 stars.

I would recommend this trilogy to anyone who is a fan of harada yoshio.

Part two of a trilogy which leaves you wanting to see the third. A great insight to samurai loyalty and compassion.
