These guys are like a cross between Fear Factory and Meshuggah, with tight precision rhythms and electronic effects. There are moments when they sound almost dead-on like Meshuggah, but there are enough other elements mixed in to keep it from being a wholesale ripoff. 3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Potential, but not all that memorable
I listened to this CD before I bought it, and I was really excited. It sounded like a mix of Fear Factory and Crossbreed. The more I play it...the more it kinda bores me. The songs seem a little long, so the punch is lost. To be honest, I haven't really given it more than 5 spins...but from what I can tell, it's got some great riffs and electronic sounds...yet it just...

These guys are like a cross between Fear Factory and Meshuggah, with tight precision rhythms and electronic effects. There are moments when they sound almost dead-on like Meshuggah, but there are enough other elements mixed in to keep it from being a wholesale ripoff. The grooves are tight and somewhat polyrhythmic and often surprisingly melodic. These are mixed with drawn-out, Fear Factory-style choruses - not my favorite aspect of this album, but by no means bad. Vocals are of the scream/sing/scream variety. When he's growling and there aren't too many effects on his voice the singer really sounds a lot like Jens from Meshuggah. The clean singing reminds me of Soilwork, only more processed. My one complaint about the production on this CD is that between the effects on his voice and the effects in the background it makes the vocals kind of mushy and obscures what he's saying. Otherwise the sound is very professional, thick and heavy with a clean high end, wielding both power and precision. There aren't a lot of bands out there who play this style this well, so if that's what you're into don't pass this up.

If you love FF, then maybe check them out...but don't rush out and spend $14 hoping for the next best thing.

4.0 out of 5 stars electronic metal!!!!, September 14, 2004

This review is from: Slave Design (Audio CD)
just got this cd in the mail yesterday (preordered it). i was hoping it would be a good as the 2 singles i had heard from their website (www.sybreed.com) - and i was not disappointed!!

great metal with a strong electronic edge. probably would go over well with fans of fear factory and raunchy...good use of synths to add depth and mood to the songs. the vocals really jump out at me - great range and power in the singer's voice...

if tracks like "rusted" and "bioactive" don't make you bob your head up and down like a jackhammer - then you're not a metal fan!!!

if you want hard hitting metal with electronic textures - pick this up right away...you will not be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Holy Crap Batman!, November 3, 2007

This is heavy, heavy, heavy! Also, very melodic parts and cool grooves. I am saddened that it took me this long to find this band, but encouraged that they have a new cd coming out in a few days. I listened to that cd in its entirety on myspace and I'm getting it as well. This will be my new workout disc for sure.

4.0 out of 5 stars What everyone else said, March 23, 2006
This review is from: Slave Design (Audio CD)
I heard about this band through Amazon.com and decided to pick it up based on what the amazon users said about it. You guys pretty much nailed this group head on. If you like Mnemic, Raunchy, Soilwork, Fear Factory or In Flames, this band is worth a listen. Of the bands mentioned, I think they sound the most like Mnemic.

They have a sound that really has a lot of potential. They are a little rough around the edges but overall they have a good concept. I really can't wait to see what this group does next. With the right producer, they could really make a name for themselves. For now, pick up this CD used like I did for $6.00.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sybreed, April 18, 2006

Its about god damn time a group begins to draw influences from the Industrial Metal scene. Sybreed's debut sounds like a mix of Fear Factory, with elements of Meshuggah and Spineshank, impressive! These guys are from Geneva, Switzerland. Formed from the ashes of underground Gothic Metal band Rain. Ben [vocals] and Drop [guitars & programming] are great songwriters that definetly have a well-versed background in Metal as well as Electronic that gets worked in here. Theres even a radio edit for "Decoy" one of the more catchy songs on the record. However, last news i heard was that Alex [drums] had quit, due to musical divergencies while writing the new record. Then i heard that they were recording there new album with Dirk Verbeuren [drums] from Soilwork as a session drummer! I'm sure they won't have much of a problem getting a new drummer working with an icon like that. I really can't wait for these guys next release which is scheduled for late 2006 or early 2007, and see what direction these guys go in. Hopefully they'll tour the states! If you like Fear Factory, In Flames, Meshuggah, or Frontline Assembly check these guys out you will not regret it.

3.0 out of 5 stars this band needs to get better, January 4, 2006
This review is from: Slave Design (Audio CD)
The sound is very original but they need make it better with better production if they get that than they will be big. But this album is very hard to listen to because there is barely any substance just potential to get better.

5.0 out of 5 stars UNBELIEVABLE!!!, May 26, 2007
This review is from: Slave Design (Audio CD)
I canNOT stop listening to this album. I never skip a song when listening to this CD; even the single mixes are good!!! I hate new hardcore screams, but the way Ben blends it with singing is just amazing. I actually got a promo copy of the CD alone, then found the retail CD, packaging and all, and picked that up as well. Recommended tracks??? ALL!!!

I've never heard anything like this before! This band is very unique! Sounds like a combination of Meshuggah and Rammstein. Very good stuff. For soundclips of this band go to the link in my title. Those 2 songs convinced me to buy it. I think this should be grouped in with Mnemic in the Future Fusion Metal genre as this is also because it is that different! I loved each song! A metal album you can headbang to and dance to! Never thought that was possible! Definate must buy!
