3.0 out of 5 stars Liked it, but... May 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The authors' obvious struggle with understanding the line between abuse and sensual pleasure/dominance/submission creates a serious character flaw in Stephan. It is saddening, because I think people need to know that most people involved in a D/s lifestyle are not interested in preying on the weak. For the same reasons therapists are not allowed to have a relationship with their patients for at least a year after they stop treatment (or risk malpractice suits), he should know that rescuing a badly abused woman and then taking her as his property is a heinous act, no matter his good intentions. And, the idea that a man of such heart and power would not make any effort to find a way to end this depraved criminal's human trafficking business is beyond me. As a business owner he fails to act on and correct blatant harassment his employees and then Brianna. Though he could probably hire a boatload of lawyers, he is afraid this predator will sue, and inexplicably lacks basic business savvy on how to make a paper trail to get rid of problem employees. Which leads to the question, how has he amassed such a fortune with so little business acumen? The book may be devoted to showing the healing side of control, but the protagonist shows a disturbing lack of understanding of boundaries and limits. I took off one star because I felt the author did not do the work necessary to avoid significant inconsistencies and errors.

I am also quite put out that ebook vendors seem to think we will put up with HALF or a THIRD of a book. The next time, you can be sure that if I read in the reviews it ended without a real ending, I will avoid it like the plague. I took off another star for this, and would take a further 1/2 if I could.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slave - worth every penny! September 6, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I just finished reading (devouring actually) Slave. Stephen is such a wonderful, patient, dominant man! Brianna is a completely broken slave/submissive. Stephen is helping Brianna heal psychologically. The story is about her very slow recovery process. I loved the way the author wrote the story by having each character tell what they were going through. It made it easy to connect with the characters. There are bdsm elements in this book but I certainly wouldn't classify it as that. I am looking forward to reading the sequel when it becomes available.

2.0 out of 5 stars REALLY??? March 15, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I can let some things slide as well as the next guy, but REALLY? This supposed "hero" rescues this poor girl only to keep her a slave and continues to treat her like a slave rather than, oh, I don't know, alerting the POLICE? Or perhaps finding her family? Or, gee, maybe TELLING HER SHE'S NO LONGER A SLAVE the day he brings her home?!! Why, oh why, does this pathetic excuse for a story get so many 5 star reviews? I just don't get it? I thought, since it was free, that maybe I was being too critical when I read the story line, but come on! I found our "hero" to be as repulsive as Ian since he is supposed to be rescuing this 18 YEAR OLD GIRL but then ends up hitting on her rather than being a true hero. Sorry, this is one book that I cannot stomach. Heroes do not do what this man did (or didn't do). Don't waste your time...

5.0 out of 5 stars An Intriguing Read August 25, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This isn't your mother's love story and many people may be turned away from the essential basis of this story, the world of BDSM, but in truth, this story goes so far beyond the outward appearance. Underneath all of the taboo under skirtings, this story at its heart and soul is about healing and repairing the damage done by others, even if the 'therapy' is unconventional. I fear that prejudices against the lifestyle choice itself may hinder people from reading this amazing story that is more about recovering from what some would consider the 'unrecoverable' and finding oneself again. While I am not even slightly drawn to this lifestyle, it didn't deter me in my enjoyment of this novel. I suggest that many people will find that they enjoy it once they get past the surface to discover the well crafted story that is very much worth the money to purchase it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Held Captive by "Slave" October 10, 2011
By alicia
Format:Kindle Edition
Slave...hmm what can I say about Slave that could even come close to explain how amazing this book is! As soon as I got my copy of this book I was very intrigued by the cover, its very beautiful and telling but at the same time you can't help but wonder how the girl on the cover got to where she is. I couldn't wait to read the story behind the cover.

Once I started reading, I didn't stop. Sherri Hayes writes with such a talent, she makes the words flow right off the page and takes you into her characters world. I was trapped and held captive right along with Brianna, then Stephan comes along and tries his best to help Brianna. But, can Stephan save Brianna or will she continue to spiral down a deep black hole?

I loved how the author made sure we got both POV's throughout the whole book. Your not stuck in one persons head the whole time. We get to try to understand Stephan's reasoning and we get to feel all the emotions she is feeling and read all the thoughts she is thinking as Stephan tries to help her deal with what she has been through.

Brianna is so broken in this story from all the stuff she has been forced to endure, but Stephan tries to hard to save her sometimes even from herself. He does this even though some of his loved ones don't understand.

I loved reading every word of this book and will more than likely read it all over again. All the characters are perfectly developed and I fell in love with Brianna and Stephan's friend and coworker Lily as well as Stephan of course. Even though sometimes I wanted to grab him and just shake him. I love the relationships Brianna gets to build in this book and can't wait to see the other ones she builds in the next books.

This is only book one of Finding Anna books and I can't wait for more. If you haven't read this book you defiantly should. You wont be able to move away from it till you finish every word.

More About the Author

Sherri spent most of her childhood detesting English class. It was one of her least favorite subjects because she never seemed to fit into the standard mold. She wasn't good at spelling, or following grammar rules, and outlines made her head spin. For that reason, Sherri never imagined becoming an author.

At the age of thirty, all of that changed. After getting frustrated with the direction a television show was taking two of its characters, Sherri decided to try her hand at writing an alternate ending, and give the characters their happily ever after. By the time the story finished, it was one of the top ten read stories on the site, and her readers were encouraging her to write more.

Six years later, Sherri is the author of six full-length novels, and one short story. Writing has become a creative outlet for Sherri that allows her to explore a wide range of emotions, while having fun taking her characters through all the twists and turns she can create. She is most well known for her Finding Anna series about a young woman rescued from being a sex slave by a wealthy Dominant. The third book in that series, Truth, released July 25, 2013.
