This is a fantastic Tribute CD! Well produced & packaged!,

I usually hate tribute CDs. With the exception of this fine masterpiece and the SAVATAGE Tribute CD! There are some great bands here performing like champs! Listen to Sebastian wail on CHILDREN OF THE DAMNED and that singer from DOFKA does a mighty fine Bruce and the solos are just incredible on Powerslave! Crowbar's track REMEMBER TOMORROW is very moody and trippy! This is a double disc and I can listen straight through both discs with shere excitement! Fantastic tribute!

A Decent but Mixed Bag,
This review is from: Slave To The Power: The Iron Maiden Tribute (Audio CD)
This Iron Maiden tribute 2-CD is a hodge-podge of mostly lesser known bands trying thier best to recreate some of Maiden's finest. The production and quality is sorely lacking on only a small number offerings, otherwise the production is pretty decent for an independent issue. Sebastian Bach's effort at "Children of the Damned" is the highlight of the whole package. Other notables are Eleventh Hour with "Alexander the Great" and The Quill's "Where Eagles Dare".This 2-CD is not without its comical moments either as there is an instrumental version of "The Trooper" accompanied by trombone and saxophone. Overall, not a bad take, but only for the most serious of Maiden fans.

Good tribute album,

Very good tribute album, compared to "Call to Irons" 1 and 2. What I really hate about those 2 is the death metal vocals on every other song. This isn't the case with this album. Although some covers are laughable, most are interesting. I would say 2/3 of this album is good, compared to 1/2 or so for "Call to Irons".I think the best part is the price - you get a double album for the price of a single one. Great value. Add a star if you have the "Call to Irons" albums. P.S. I liked the intro to NotB in Russian and laughed listening to instrumental version of the Trooper.

The first time I listened to this, I was really caught by surprise at some of the renditions of these songs I know very well. There are a few that could easily pass for the real thing, if listening conditions were imperfect; there are a few that are left me shocked, and a couple that left me disappointed. After exploring an artist's entire catalog, I find it refreshing to see what kinds of covers others have made. Sometimes, the covers remind of how much I enjoy the real thing, and other times that the covers create something great on their own. In particular, one has to wonder why Sebastian Bach wasn't recruited to sing for Iron Maiden at some point, because his cover of Children of the Damned is excellent. I don't want to try to tell all of you what to think of this album, because there would be little reason to listen for yourselves. Instead, I want you to understand that this album is not entirely carbon-copies of Iron Maiden songs, some of them are a drastic break from the beaten path. If you are comfortable stepping out of your comfort zone and listening to something that doesn't mirror Iron Maiden, you will definitely enjoy this experience. If you prefer to only worship everything that Bruce Dickinson touches and you're going to rant about how this doesn't sound EXACTLY like Maiden... don't bother with this collection.

THis is not a tribute to Maiden.. It's an offense !!,

The category of the bands included in this so-called "tribute" is so low, that I think this is an offense to MAIDEN, a band still kicking and live after their recent amazing recording "BRAVE NEW WORLD". If you're a real Maiden fan, you'll want nothing to do with this horrible project. If this was endhorsed by MAIDEN itself, it's a shame ...

Mediocre,

Sebastian Bach's Children of the Damned is the only reason to buy this album. Bach rips through the song as well, if not BETTER, than Iron Maiden themselves. Truly a classic. The other songs on this album are poor, if not mediocre at best.

It's called a TRIBUTE- get over it,

Yes, I myself have complained about tribute albums before. But you know what, THAT'S WHAT IT IS! A TRIBUTE to a great band. It is not Iron Maiden. What do you expect? I know that it sounds strange to the ears hearing someone else sing and play IM's music. But that's what a tribute album is- SOMEONE ELSE playing the music. You have to get past the idea that everyone is supposed to sound like IM. They won't. The people that appear on this album weren't chosen at random. They didn't get together and say, "Hey, let's put out a double cd of Iron Maiden cover tunes." They are friends of the band. IM, or their reps, CHOSE the artists for this album. Believe it or not, SOME people are fans of these "lesser known bands" and wouldn't buy this cd for any other reason. And the same goes for IM fans who have never heard these other bands. As far as talent goes, Sebastian Bach is the shining star on this tribute album. In my eyes, the man can do NO wrong. And because HE was on it, I bought the cd. That's what a TRIBUTE album is all about! 'nuf said.

Why would some Maiden fan want to buy a thing like that !,

I can't understand the reason for compilations like this, about a band that is still active, recording and touring around the world. Sometimes old classics receive a fresh version, sounds more alive, but the bands involved in this project belong to minor league, has nothing to add to Maiden's discography. A total waste of time and money.

ROD, HOW MUCH MONEY ???,

I think Maiden must have received a good money by permitting the recording of this garbage. Otherwise, I don't know if their manager, Rod Smallwood, would permit it. The band featuring here are so weak, the versions so uninspired, that this CD would pass to oblivion forever, without nobody noticing it ...
