This book was very raw but also extremely authentic. Mr. Mundis writes in a way that is captivating despite the difficult subject matter. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in America history and the true nature of the institution of slavery. You will not want the book to end!

This book opened my mind on slavery. This was an amazingly well written book. To was also an emotional journey to the end .But,the end of the book left me guessing and wondering wanting to know more.....it left me speechless.

Jerrold Mundis. Book 2.
Slave.
This is the 2nd book in the Shame & Glory series. Set in the 1860s it follows the lives of the slaves, at the plantations mostly Olympus. These were the days when life was worth very little and any damages to the slaves meant death for the blemished party. This book is very well written and easy to follow. It's very descriptive and so well told. Highly recommended.
5 stars 01 February 2015.

Book 2 in The Shame and the Glory Saga. This second in the series has nothing to do with book one Slave ship in the series. In fact if you read the two out of order there would be no spoilers. As for the novel it's similar to other books in the slave genre. It's similar, but not as graphic, as Mandingo and other similar novels. I just wished it was a little longer.

Such a wonderful book. I hated when it ended. I wish it could've ended with Jud and his wife finding each other again instead of leaving one to wonder.

History of insufferable hate and cruelty exacerbated by a race of people who used God and religion to justify their abuse. How ironic is it that the Bible teaches the exact opposite. Generations of African Americans denied the privilege to read w/o the risk of death by the enslaver who knew knowledge is power. Thus, in order to keep them ignorant, degradable & submissive, denied them the right to that power. My history as a Negro then and now leave me bitter.
