This review is from: The Slaves of Aphrodite (Hardcover)
Curious book. Ostensibly set in the 23rd - 25th centuries on Venus, Mars and Earth. In fact, large portions of it are retelling of historic events, and take place under the historic conditions. Thus the death of Albert Sidney Johnson at Shiloh is retold on Venus, but with cannonballs! Also retold is the story of the Alamo Scouts in WWII (New Guinea) and the experiences of William Chittenden as a Japanese POW. This last takes up 50 pages, substantial sections of which are lifted verbatim from Chittenden's "From China Marine to Jap POW."

The author has explained that this book was intended as a private excercise with friends and family. He was surprised and appalled that a few copies seem to have leaked into circulation.
