5.0 out of 5 stars Very complete album.
This cd is rad. There are three versions of the title track, which is a pretty good song, but I think the master song on this album is definitly "Perfect Skin Dub." From hearing the orginal version you would never expect it possible to cut it up and make a 12 minute long masterpiece in it's remix. It has a great guitar loop that makes the song. But aside from...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's no where near as cool as their other stuff
I'm sorry to say this- outside a couple of cool tracks
this doesn't hold my interest. Some songs, like the title
track are awesome. Other tracks like "Meltdown" are sonically
dissonant, trippy and are heavy numbers. Then there's the boring
remix material that does absolutely nothing for me. Overall-
I'd say it's worth for the 4 or 5 cool tracks-...

But aside from Slavestate and Perfect Skin, there are also 4 other new songs, the best of which is Meltdown. This cd offers quite a lot.

I first picked this album up in 7th grade...I thought it was one of the worst things I had ever heard. Now a sophomore in college, my tastes have done a near 180. This album is amazing. Very heavy, thick guitar work. There's something about this disc, esp. the last two tracks, it gets you in this very military, Eastern-bloc war-torn mood...the vocals are angry yet intelligent. The drums systematic and dynamic. Great album to draw to...The title track is amazing. It combines whirly electronics with hard industrial tunage... This is before Earache Records went cheezeball...

5.0 out of 5 stars Stood the test of time for me, February 17, 2011

Here , besides samples, Godflesh is using mechanized synth riffs along with the metal style, which hasnt really been done by them to this extent on any of their other albums. On the remix tracks we have "industrial house" beats and odd electronic sounds. I disagree with the bad reviews I think this is a highly original sound and melodic. Its nice to have more electronica than metal. Like Someone Somewhere Scorned....And those choirs in the background. Except for the outdated "Jesus" shoutings this is a sound I wish Godflesh would revisit.
