Slayer - Reign In Blood: Still Reigning

Alright, first off, it's Reign In Blood live in it's entirety, no song omitted, all on high quality DVD, that alone is worth the price sticker on this baby. These guys zoom through the setlist pretty quickly, playing every song flawlessly. It is so awesome watching them play Necrophobic, just listen to the speed of that song! The sound and camera quality is as good as it gets. There are many different camera angles. The show they put on was incredible. Lots of flashing lights, and the grand finale during Raining Blood where the stage actually rains blood on all of the band members!

Not only do you get that, but they throw in quite a few other classic crowd favorates as extra. You also get War Ensemble, Hallowed Point, Necrophiliac, Mandatory Suicide, Spill The Blood, and South Of Heaven. All of which are done exceedingly well.

Lastly, you get an interview with the band entitled Slayer In Their Own Words. Not one member is left out on this one, nor one topic. They discuss anything from the in and outs of Dave Lombardo to how Slayer came about to the hostility of the fans. It's all covered in a very short but sweet manner.

Slayer fans, do yourself a favor and pick this one up!

I thought the Warfield DVD concert was good but Still Reigning is just fantastic. The band sound at the top of their game. Even Tom seems to have gotten his voice back after the somewhat uneven performance in places on the Warfield DVD. The director and producer have done an outstanding job shooting the footage and capturing the audio.

This DVD also puts right the main sin of the Warfield DVD - the dreadful "Fans Rule" documentary. Still Reigning gives us what we deserve - a real, genuine interview and profile of the band. All four of them get their due, instead of just Kerry shouldering the load. They come across as intelligent, well-spoken guys. I wish that interview was a bit longer. A full hour would have been great.

I think the Warfield and Still Reigning together give you a good collection of live Slayer - and that's what it's all about.

I recomend this DVD even though nobody(including me)has heard it.

I loved it. The band is as tight as ever and doing the entire R.I.B album live was epic. A real Slayer fan can't ask for more than this DVD. The blood shower during Reign in Blood was spectacular!! If you want Slayer in old school thrashing form this is a must.

A must buy!!! Reign in blood is widely regarded as the masterpiece of thrash metal. Even people who hate the genre can distinguish the musicianship that resulted in one of the greatest recordings of all time, regardless of genre. This DVD sees today's Slayer performing it flawlessly.

Extra high marks go to those involved in the mixing of this DVD, the sound is truly out of this world. (The raining blood effect is also, though juvenile, pretty darn cool).

Slayer has still got it, and never lost it. One of the most influential bands of 80's metal scene shows in this DVD that an album done right the first time is one that stands the test of time. Slayer effortlessly shreds through the guts of all ten tracks of the original album, with all lights, thunder, smoke, and of course, BLOOD!!!! This DVD also has some behind the scenes footage and bonus live tracks from the show. If you must own one DVD from slayer, this is it.

SLAYERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

The film is of good quality: images alter between black & white and color, the angles are diverse, the stage lights and effects (blood rain) are great without being pretentious. First there is the entirety of Reign in Blood, then six more songs from their 80's catalog. The sound quality is good, you can hear what each one of them is doing. I especially like how Slayer have aged: retained crucial elements of their sound and image, without becoming parodies of themselves. I was surprised at how this DVD was priced. I would have loved a longer set in the bonus tracks, but for the quality and the price, I can't really complain. Oh and the interviews with the band members are cool. very informative, but not too long either.

All you hard core Slayer fans know how important this is! To see Dave Lombardo back is the greatest gift! As a drummer myself for over 25 yrs. I will say Dave is, pound for pound the best ever...period. As the years have gone by I felt he would never go back. If you are an original Slayer fan from back in the 80's you would be a fool to not get this. First off, you get to see and hear the ORIGINAL line up back together again. Secondly, you get to see and hear the entire Reign In Blood album played live. The thing that I was surprized by was the musicianship going on here. They still play just as fast and almost note for note to the original 1986 LP. The bonus features on this dvd are really great too. The Slayer documentary is REALLY great on this. New interviews with the band talking about the project and Dave's return. Also the bonus area has a few extra live tracks.

yeah, they play all of reign in blood. but let's forget the coolest reason this is worth owning: the band have taken "raining blood" quite literally. during that song actual red dye floods the band and the stage, making that stormy thunder in the beginning of the song that more ominous. a trick they will use during their jagermeister tour. awesome
