Book Description

Where Kara’s magic falls short, her fists get the job done. San Diego’s criminal element doesn’t stand a chance once she hits the streets. When two smoking-hot tenants move in next door, though, just being near them makes her want to offer her body on a platter.
Gavin and Julian are fallen angels sent to watch over their king’s daughter, but Kara’s not letting anything stop her from tracking down a sadistic killer. Then they realize her target may be the one thing from which they swore to protect her—the very scourge of heaven.

More About the Author

Cassi Carver writes spicy urban fantasy, contemporary romance, and paranormal romance. She lives in sunny Southern California with two dogs, four kids, varying numbers of pet chickens and tropical fish...and one very patient husband.

When Cassi isn't busy plotting or writing, she enjoys reading, gardening, horseback riding, spending time with family and friends, caring for pets, volunteering at the local animal shelter, drinking copious amounts of Diet Dr. Pepper, and watching sappy movies that deliver reliably happy endings.

There is nothing whiny, whimpy or weak about the heroine in Cassi Carver's Slayer's Kiss. Kara Reed is tough, spunky, and torn between two hot, lustful fallen angels. I was torn with her, hardly able to decide between good guy Gavin and bad boy Julian. Each had unique qualities that endeared them to me.
I give this book five stars for spicy hot panty melting scenes, laugh out loud dialogue, characters I loved and loved to hate, and a plot that kept me hooked making me stay up reading long after I should have turned off the lights.
Great book Cassi! I can't wait for the next installment. September right????

I loved this book from the opening pages where the heroine is magically, er, dulling a sexual predator's ability to perform. Carver's sassy, fun voice infuses every scene. Be warned, the love scenes are really, deliciously hot. I can't wait for book two in the series to come out!

You know when you're at the book store (or the ebook store for that matter) and you're browsing. New books by authors you've never heard of, and you're just not sure if you should take a risk with your hard earned money on something new? Well make no mistake, this one is worth your money. I felt like I hit that new author lottery when I started Slayer's Kiss by Cassi Carver. I read a lot of stuff, but generally I stick to smut (grin) and urban fantasy. I have a few romance and paranormal romance authors I consistently read, but they need to be good writers, with strong characters to keep me interested. I always prefer a series. There is just something about jumping into a new world and wanting to know more about the characters when I finish a book. So, Slayer's Kiss, I wanted to know where I could pick up book 2 by the time I started chapter six. I stayed up waaaayyyyy past my bedtime because I couldn't get enough.

Oh Cassi, Cassi, Cassi. This is such a hard review for me to write because I can't seem to find the words for this book. I was not expecting it to end that way and that is where my problem lies. LOL I need HEA in my books and this book kind of ended with a HEA but not the one I wanted (not even close!!!) So I'm left with wondering about book #2 in the series and how the story progresses from here. Will it continue on with Kara, Julian and Gavin or will it be new characters??? I can only hope that this isn't the last for these characters and that book #2 is a continuation of them. Your killing me Cassi!! LOL

I really really liked Slayer's Kiss!! I loved the characters; Kara, Abbey, Tray, Julian, Gavin, Aidan and Jaxon. I was drawn to everyone of them and thought that they each added something special to the story and made you care about what happened to them.

I loved the idea of the story but in the beginning I was a little bit confused trying to figure out what was going on with Gavin, Julian and Kara, but that was just because Cassi didn't weigh down the beginning of the book with each of their back stories--instead of piling it on upfront the information was given little by little throughout the book.

Now the sexing was great and happened pretty early on in the book and often--loved that!!! Two words: CLOUD SEX!! Oh, yeah!!! (well really cloud fooling around-- twice--LOL) I LOVED Julian especially how he was with Kara. Kara on the other hand was a little bit slutty--still liked her though!! LOL

A great start to the series and I definitely can't wait for the next book!!! 4 out of 5 rating.

**I WON this copy of Slayer's Kiss from Yummy Men and Kick Ass Chicks and was provided very graciously by Cassi Carver!! Thanks again ladies!!**

Quick & Dirty: Lots of sex and fighting with a confusing amount of explanations jumbled in with plot. This story lacks a cohesive storyline, authentic characters and consistent world-building.

Opening Sentence: "Just lie back and relax, a**hole."

The Review:

When I start a new series, I try to keep an open mind. Sometimes the first book doesn't portray the world or characters in enough detail for the reader to get a handle on events that take place. Those details and character motivations usually come out in the next few books and the overall picture is, at last, revealed. I am going to hope that is the case with Slayer's Kiss. The first installment of the Shadow Slayers series, as it stands, leaves me wanting.

The main character, Kara Reed, is a mediocre witch that is a maintenance tech for her building and part-time bartender at the Hoolecha Inn by day. That, in its self, is boring. The fun part is she moonlights as a vigilante. With her best friend, Abbey, they prowl the night for sex offenders and use magic to punish them, usually by making them impotent. Kara uses her innate knowledge of sensing violence and evil to hunt these SOB's down like the dogs they are. She also happens to be a rare female Demiare, those born of fallen angels and humans that are immortal and have cool magic powers. She's strong and independent, but also impetuous and vulnerable. It makes for a hard combination to get a bead on her overall personality. Kara's motivations remain unclear because of her mercurial emotional responses. I am hoping that in future books, she evens out and these issues are due to her being overwhelmed about discovering her heritage.

Gavin and Julian are both the love interests in Slayer's Kiss.
