5.0 out of 5 stars The silliest, most enjoyable Slayers yet, August 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Slayers Next: Forbidden Dance [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you have made it this far in the Slayers series, than I don't need to convince you that this is one of the most enjoyable animes out there. This tape is silly silly silly, loads of fun. Let me just sum it up this way-- Lina sings and dances like a J-pop star!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sorry guys, no plot here!, February 25, 2000
So, if I just said that there is no plot, why did I give the video five stars? BECAUSE IT IS FUNNY! If you like corney Slayers style humor, then this is the best video of the series. Normally you get one corney ep, followed by two episodes that build on the plot. Not so with this video: All three eps are for you mindless viewing pleasure! (I never said that it is good for your brain though...) Lina and Amelia find a spell of incredible power, that supposedly casts divine protection against enemies. (They soon find out that they are wrong!, after a little singing and dancing of course...) Xelloss then re-joins the party to trick the gang into going into a haunted mansion... full of killer dolls... Finally, Lina learns the ...uh... fun of "Brass Rackets" (glorified tennis, with magic). This is a great video for anyone who likes off-the-wall humor, and hey, it has Xelloss! (or is that just my personal opinion?) A great anime series for guys OR girls.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zelgadis has to grab someone's butt, need i say more?, February 29, 2000
This review is from: Slayers Next: Forbidden Dance [VHS] (VHS Tape)
In this one, Our Gang, dances, sings about little breasts, and wears costumes that look like cast aways from the fifth grade school play. Xellos trys to cook some soup, nearly kills everyone with it (Mandragora soup, one bite is strong enough to kill even a golden dragon) and gets turned into a doll. Gourry finally lives out his fantansy of dressing up as a jellyfish, and gets turned into a doll. Zelgadis gets a pair of tiger stripped undies, and has to grab someone's butt (unfortunately Gourry isn't around, and Lina might take that in the wrong way) and get's turned into a doll. And Brass Rackets, who ever let a lunatic like Martina near something that powerful outta be dragged out into the street and stoned. All in all, this volume has nothing to do with the storyline, but hey, you'll have fun watching it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Slayers Nnext - The Forbidden Dance?, January 3, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Slayers Next: Forbidden Dance [VHS] (VHS Tape)
From the cover, for those that like content. 'Still on the run from the Monster race, Lina's more desperate than ever to find the ultimate magical defense. After hearing rumors of a incredible spell book hidden away in some ancient ruins, Lina decides it's worth a shot to check it out. But as luck would have it, she's not the only one... hot on the trail of the spell book. Lina and friends meet up with Mimi and Nene, twin sisters who are after exactly the same thing! After utterly failing to resolve their differences through delicat negotiation, Lina and Anelia must face the sisters' greatest challeng... But do Mimi and Nene actually expect Lina to put on the idiotic costume and ... sing?' Like always, I love Slayers.

5.0 out of 5 stars The funniest Slayers video yet!!, April 27, 2001

MIKE LENOIR (FAIRFIELD, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Slayers Next: Forbidden Dance [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Out of my collection of 20 Slayers tapes, I have to say that this is my favorite one. Each episode contains scenes that are simply laugh-out-loud funny! In the first episode, there's the hillarious and extremely cute song and dance routine with Lina, Amelia, and Zell. I loved the way this dubbed episode breaks into the original Japanese singing and adds subtitles for the final rendition of the routine! In the second episode they go to investigate a mysterious tower claimed to be haunted by people who have been turned into dolls. This episode is great to watch with others, as you can laugh at your friends getting freaked out at the same time you laugh at the characters! Very funny stuff! The last episode pits Lena verses Martina in "battle tennis" where the object is to down your opponents by smashing them with enchanted raquets and balls. I love the way Xellos manipulates everyone simply for his own amusement (and ours as well)! Even if you aren't a big anime fan, you can't help but love this tape!

5.0 out of 5 stars Too funny!, September 25, 2000
By
This review is from: Slayers Next: Forbidden Dance [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This tape was too funny. If you're into the Slayers, you'll love this! If you're not you'll love it! It really has nothing to do with the plot, so you can buy it and not get too confused or spoiled. The first episode was a bit racist (a bit?), but Zel, Amelia, and Lina singing and dancing make up for that. (Lina & Amelia in Sailor fukus?) The second episode is crazy, and we get to see Zelly~sama in a bunny costume. *heehee* And finally, there's a tennis- I mean brass-rackets match in the end, with of course results in a hilarious battle between Lina and Martina. A tape any comedy anime fan would love.

5.0 out of 5 stars The funniest tape in Slayers, no doubt about it..., May 25, 2000
I'll be honest with you, usually I don't like filler episodes. However, Tape 5 of Next had me rolling around the floor laughing so many times I just _adored_ it-- this tape is what I immediately pop into the VCR to cheer me up when I feel sort of down, and it never fails. Sailor Moon outfits, mock tennis tournaments, and the most dignified character in a bunny suit-- you can't get any siller than that, and that's exactly why Tape 5 deserves to be loved.

4.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Funny, September 11, 1999
By A Customer
Slayers is great and the 2nd series is just as good! Lots of action and comedy from our favorite sorceress with a bad temper and huge appetite. Very good if you don't mind that most of the episodes start/involve food, lots of food. A great anime!
