The pad arrived very quickly and I immediately opened it to allow it to air out and expand. It did have a very strong odor that dissipated after a couple of days. The pad fit great on top of my king sized mattress. I like it and it adds a noticable layer of softness on top of my firm matress. If I were to buy another mattress topper however I would go for something a little thicker. I can tell after only a few months that the "life" of this topper will expire long before I am ready to buy another bed. The spots where my husband and I sleep are already losing firmness and resiliance. I give it a year before I need to replace it.

I have a european platform bed with a single mattress supported by wooden slats... Love the bed and the original mattress, which was designed for a platform bed, still does it's job in spite of the fact that I originally wanted a foam mattress and never purchased one.

The current mattress is still supportive but not nearly what I needed with an increasingly arthritic back.
I discovered by sleeping on the foam mattress in my trailer that I slept much better, with no pain and woke up with a far stronger back that I didn't have walk the pain out of, for 2 hours, after waking, when I slept on the firm, foam trailer mattress.

I was about to bite the bullet and purchase a firm, latex, foam 700 dollar mattress for my bed at home when I found this item.
It arrived with some odor so I aired it outside for 5 days before taking it indoors. The odor was gone by that point. The minimal sun exposure turned one side the amber color, like in the photo above while the unexposed side stayed white. My bed is now uniformly very firm and feels like a new, latex foam mattress. No lumps, bumps, uneven spots or uneven firmness.. Perfect in every way.... I now wake up, -- SPRING up, ---happy and pain free. One review here said that the topper was so firm that, if put on the floor, the person's body weight wouldn't cause the topper to depress enough so that the weight pressed through to the floor...
I was somewhat concerned about that review because it sounded just waaaaay too soft. I'm happy to report, that for a 190 pound male,.... the topper doesn't even squish a quarter inch with my full weight upon it.. It is as EXTRA firm as anyone will EVER find in a foam topper....

I have a queen-sized bed that I still use when I was back in college. I have had the mattress for roughly 8 years now and the cushion is below par to say the least. I plan to move out soon so I was looking for a cheaper alternative than purchasing a brand new mattress. This foam pad fits the bill - although the pad was a bit wider than my queen-sized bed, I got my oversized sheets to (barely) fit. The pad feels extremely comfortable (I travel every week and live out of nice hotels - I can say that this pad is definitely comparable to the beds at those hotels). I just purchased the mattress so I'm not sure how long the firmness will last but I am hoping that it will last for at least another year or so. I would recommend this pad to anyone looking for an alternative to purchasing a new mattress.

August 2011 Update:
I have had this mattress topper for about a year now and the firmness has not changed and I am still satisfied with this topper. I had to move recently and I decided to buy the exact same mattress topper but in a different size. Highly recommend!

My husband & I always seem to have bed problems. I am honestly tired of getting new beds. At the beginning of last year we got a brand new Stearns & Foster bed that we thought would be good for some time. However, recently I noticed that we were starting to "fall into the valleys" again. We decided this time to buy a fairly inexpensive mattress pad and see how it worked. We tried a memory foam one awhile ago but quickly realize that it was not holding its shape either.

I did a lot of research on the "pads". I realized that there were different thickness and density of pads. Who would have thought there was so much to know. We almost went with a $200 latex pad but at the last moment I decided on this one for $60 or so.

When it came in it was bunched up some and of course had a little odor. We just laid it out on the bed and aired it out some and let it un-scrunch. That night was the best night of sleep I have had in months!!! I love this pad. What I like even more is if it wears out or wears down I can get 2 more for the price I was going to pay for the latex pad.

I heard some people complain about the sizes of the pads. This one was the exact size for our king size bed. I was thinking that other people may have ordered the wrong size by mistake.

I am very pleased with this product. I would recommend it.

I suspected my new plush top mattress was the culprit for the debilitating back pain I'd been having for the past few months. I wouldn't even be in the bed for 10 minutes before I would feel the twinge of pain in my lower back. I had resorted to strategically placing pillows under my lower torso while sleeping to try to re-balance my body. It kind of worked...I could fall asleep, but I would wake up a handful of times per night, aching, needing to readjust the pillows. Needless to say I never got a full night's sleep and I would also get severe lower back pain throughout the day during my daily tasks.

Finally, my husband and I ordered this product hoping it would make our bed a bit more firm and more like the mattress we had before we moved. It arrived on time and nicely packaged - yes, with a odor as a number of other reviewers have mentioned.

I couldn't wait to try it out though, so I only aired it out for maybe twenty minutes before putting it on our bed. This probably isn't a good idea for anyone who has a sensitive nose -- the smell gave me a headache, but I took some pain medicine and tried to block it out. My husband, however, never mentioned noticing a smell and fell asleep just fine.

I slept through the entire night. I was a little stiff the next morning, but nothing compared to how I had been waking up without the mattress topper. The next day, I laid down on our bed to take a nap and didn't wake up for five hours. Every night I've slept on it since we put it on our bed I've slept through the night! I don't wake up stiff at all anymore and the pain I used to experience while bending over has almost completely dissipated.

We were almost positive that this was the type of product that we needed, but we were concerned that it was going to bother my husband, who had no problems with our plush top mattress like I did. So far, however, he has no complaints!

For those of you who are concerned about the smell: the odor was about half as bad the second night, and barely noticeable the third. We've had it for 5 nights and I can't smell it at all anymore. So, I recommend airing it out for a least 24 hours if you think the smell will bother you. I promise it WILL go away and you'll be glad you kept the product!

No, this is a not a memory foam mattress topper (but, then again, no where does it claim to be!), so it's not going to be all squishy. Thank goodness! Instead, this product does exactly what it's supposed to: it adds extra firmness for those of us who need a little more stability while we sleep.

I ordered this because my bed was really lumpy and this fixed the problem. My backpain has stopped and I'm satisfied. I was worried because the "firm" topper feels soft and cushy when you press into it, but once I lied down, it was firm and fully supportive. I'm glad I purchased this instead of a new mattress. I've used it for several months now and I think it has lost a bit of firmness, so I just flipped the topper.

I bought this because my Tempurpedic Celebrity bed was too squishy. I felt like I was sinking into it and would wake up with lots of back pain. I didn't want to replace the bed because, well, it was very expensive. I was told that you can only make a bed more soft but could not do anything about a bed that was not firm enough. I decided to go ahead and try this topper. It is definitely firm and has really helped. I don't sink down into the bed anymore.

The reason I gave this product 4 instead of 5 stars is because it did not fit. I purchased a queen topper and it was over 2 inches too long and at least 3 inches too wide. I had to cut it with scissors, which was not easy. I made a jagged mess of the topper along the edges.

Someone tell me how this is safe to sleep on... When I was carrying it up the stairs it set off my smoke detector! I thought - how the heck can a foam mattress set do that? So I passed it in front of the detector a few times and got the same result. Scary!

I set it outside for 24 hours and the fumes seemed to dissipate. But I'm still a little leery about it. Jury's out.

I purchased this after reading reviews about how it helped firm a to soft bed. We purchased an expensive pillow top matress that felt great in store but became far to soft after a week of use. I hoped this would help bring some support and firmness to the mattress. It did.... for about 4 nights. We have had this topper for a little over a month. Now we have 2 large sink holes in this topper where we sleep. Where we haven't laied it is still firm so it is literally a hole where we lay... very disappointed. I think the best use for this will be to have a king sized magic eraser! Cut it up in chunks and I should have a magic eraser on hand for life! (Same type material)

I started having problems sleeping when we got a new mattress with a nice soft pillow-top. There were 2 days of feeling like my body was breaking and I couldn't take any more. My fiance found this for me, and now it's like we have a sleep number bed. My half of the bed is firm while hers is soft. (I got a twin firm mattress topper for our king bed.) $32 saved us the hassle of getting a new mattress.
