This review is from: Sleep Now Forever (Audio CD)
For the uninitiated, Sorrow is the latest project of Strawberry Switchblade's Rose McDowall (also Current 93, Coil, Death in June, NON, etc.) It's probably the closest the World Serpent family gets to pure pop music, albeit pop of the most melancholy and introspective kind imaginable. Fans of truly ethereal music need to pick this up, and it's truly a shame that Sorrow have thus far gone unnoticed in the ethereal music world, as their work is some of the finest the genre has to offer. Imagine beautiful mulit-layered vocals over sweeping, almost sixties, harmonies, quietly distorted guitars, cello, woodwinds, etc. and you have a good idea of where Sorrow are coming from, but no clue as to how great they are. "Love Dies" and "Turn out the Light" are certainly highlights, but really there's no filler here whatsoever, and if you consider yourself a fan of ethereal, forlorn, dreamy pop, you need to find this right now.
