Epic album, July 1, 2008
This review is from: Sleep Now Quiet Forest (Audio CD)
"Sleep Now, Quiet Forest" is the first full album from this band, who hails from Maryland. Their previous offering, "Stormbringer" was a 5 track EP and this new album, compared to the previous, is like the difference between "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit". The new CD is glorious and epic, soft and peaceful in some places, and in other places, heavy and pounding.
Todesbonden has elements of doom metal, progressive metal, folk music, symphonic & soundtrack music, Cirque du Soleil and Celtic music, yet they have a genre of their own that is yet unnamed. Laurie Ann Haus's vocals soar in and out of the melodic guitar and violin lines provided by Jason Wood and Patrick Geddes into gorgeous, multi-layered musical suites that take you in and out of dream and fantasy. Yet, at no time in the music is the performance self-indulgent or overtly virtuosic -- each instrument and voice holds the other pieces together in a wonderful web of melody and rhymthmic space. It never get boring or repetitive, either, it makes you wanting more by the end!
My favorite track is "Battle of Kadesh". It's simply beautiful and recalls to mind some of Peter Gabriel's work for "Last Temptation of Christ", but is far more aggressive and has an epic sweep that takes you into the world of ancient Greek battles.

Finally !!, July 22, 2008
This review is from: Sleep Now Quiet Forest (Audio CD)
Finally. Laurie Ann Haus one of my favorite singers who sang with Ephemeral Sun, Rain Fell Within, Autumn Tears and other bands is back
with Todesbonden's first full length CD. Their earlier EP was great and finally we have a first real album.

Perfection, November 4, 2009
This review is from: Sleep Now Quiet Forest (Audio CD)
In my humble opinion, this is musical perfection! Todesbonden gets more play time than any other music I listen to. And, it never gets old! To me, that is the mark of great music. If you like female-fronted symphonic rock, you will love this music! Right up there with Nightwish, Within Temptation, etc. Yeah, I'm a big fan!
