3.0 out of 5 stars Decent overview, not enough practical advice
My 10 week old won't nap, yet nowhere in this book can you find any help on how to get your baby to take naps. The all important "Sleep Solution" I'm looking for can't be found here.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Mother of all sleep books!, May 2, 2006
This review is from: Sleep Solutions for Your Baby, Toddler and Preschooler: The Ultimate No-Worry Approach for Each Age and Stage (Mother of All Solutions) (Paperback)
The first sleep book you should read and maybe the last. This book not only covers how to get your children to have a good night sleep, it includes ideas to help Mothers also.

Sleep Solutions is well researched and covers all the popular methods for sleep teaching. It does not advocate one method over another and encourages you to find what works for your family. The resources at the back of the book are also excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sleep Doula Approved, May 1, 2006
This review is from: Sleep Solutions for Your Baby, Toddler and Preschooler: The Ultimate No-Worry Approach for Each Age and Stage (Mother of All Solutions) (Paperback)
Finally the Sleep Bible for all exhausted parents. This is amazing book with sleep solutions for all parents. As a doula who works with families with sleep problems, I encourage all my clients to buy a copy. It is great that it talks about all the options avaliable and ther benefits and drawbacks. The stories and tips from parents were fantastic and inspiring. The book is easy to get through and can be read cover to cover or based strictly on your needs. This is a very parent friendly book with non-judgemental support during such a critical and crazy time. I give it 5 stars and the Sleep Doula Seal of Approval.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you only want to read one book..., January 12, 2007

This review is from: Sleep Solutions for Your Baby, Toddler and Preschooler: The Ultimate No-Worry Approach for Each Age and Stage (Mother of All Solutions) (Paperback)
This book covers all the bases. However, if I hadn't read almost every other sleep book out there, I don't think this one alone would have been enough for me. It doesn't go in depth enough for any of the methods for my personal taste. That being said, it does have a lot of ideas and I'll keep it as more a reference guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most Reassuring Sleep Book Ever!, November 9, 2006
This review is from: Sleep Solutions for Your Baby, Toddler and Preschooler: The Ultimate No-Worry Approach for Each Age and Stage (Mother of All Solutions) (Paperback)
This book is by far the best sleep-help book out there, and I feel like I have tried them all. It reassures you that your situation is totally normal and reminds you that your baby is just a little thing with a "tiny tummy" that does need to be filled every few hours in the beginning. I wish I had this book when my first born (now 2) was an infant. I wouldn't have stressed out so much. It also provides helpful advice about how to get your baby to sleep for longer and longer periods of time, until they are finally "sleeping through the night" (even tho I learned that this definition is pretty loose). I want my baby to sleep through MY night, not hers! This book rocks.

5.0 out of 5 stars A practical book with real solutions, May 4, 2006
By
This review is from: Sleep Solutions for Your Baby, Toddler and Preschooler: The Ultimate No-Worry Approach for Each Age and Stage (Mother of All Solutions) (Paperback)
You're tired. The baby isn't sleeping properly and you need help NOW! That's why this book is great, because it gives you ideas you can try today, implement right now. And if the first idea doesn't work, there's often another one, too, sometimes a whole list of ideas.

I like the fact that this book talks to real mothers about real sleep problems and gives real, practical solutions. Ann Douglas writes like your older sister or best friend would talk to you, gently and with humour.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you have tried everything, here is one more thing!, July 26, 2011

If have tried 99 different things to get your little one to sleep - here is one more thing to help you out. I think the good in this book is to see that you are not alone, but more importantly it reminds you - hey that did work - until it didn't, maybe I should try this aspect differently. I do recommend.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy!, January 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sleep Solutions for Your Baby, Toddler and Preschooler: The Ultimate No-Worry Approach for Each Age and Stage (Mother of All Solutions) (Paperback)
I thought this would be a good book since it represented more than one view. Basically all it does is repeat over and over there is no one right approach and don't beat yourself up, trust your gut. Heard that a lot, doesn't help with a 10 month old that has yet to sleep through the night. It took over 120 pages to get to the part that presented some ideas, but it doesn't really explain the various thoughts on how to get your child to sleep. I know there is not one answer, that's why I thought this book would be helpful, however, it wasn't. All the information presented could be found through an internet search. Very disappointed! I read many reviews before I bought the book, too bad they weren't accurate!

This is a great book to read to have a good basic knowledge on children's patterns of sleeping and should be used as a "guideline" to what to expect from your infant/toddler/preschooler sleeping needs as they progress.
