3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad Memory Foam Topper
This foam topper is 8 pounds out of the box which puts the density at 3 pounds per cubic food. This is the way one measures the quality of foam toppers. The previous one that I bought from eBay (and am in the process of returning) was a cheap 1.5 pounds per cubic foot which is on the low end. To find the density, multiply the dimensions (e.g. 30x72x2 and divide by 12,...

I love my very hard mattress which keeps my back in decent shape but lately I have been noticing painful pressure points on my hips which make me toss and turn all night. After looking for a pillow top (there is none on my mattress) I turned to Amazon for reviews, read the reviews here and decided on this mattress top. Thank all of you who placed reviews here! I am delighted with my choice. No more pressure points. Very little tossing and turning. No bad foam rubber odor. Very, very comfortable. This pad will not turn a worn out old mattress into a new one, but if you have a good supportive mattress that is just a bit uncomfortable, this is a really good thing.

UPDATE: April 27, 2011. This pad is just as good as it was when new. It is not showing any wear after three years of use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Far better than expected!, August 6, 2007
By
Being too cheap to buy a new mattress, I picked this up when it was on sale, and couldn't be happier with it. I'd been wary of trying memory foam, given the wide variety of complaints about them (too small, smells bad, too hot, etc.), but now I wish I had given in sooner. This fits perfectly, lost its weird odor in about two days, and is cooler than just my unpadded mattress. And, while it doesn't make my mattress seem comfy enough to be brand new, its more than comfy enough to put off buying a new one a while longer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Great on the back and the pocketbook, February 8, 2008
This visco elastic is the same as the ones out there going for close to $200.00. It came packaged nicely and the first night on my hospital bed i have at home i can't tell you the pressure it took off my back and the comfort. Being i have 4 herniated discs, 8 pinched nerves and both problems with my si joints among other health issues, the 2 inch was very plush and has yet to lose it's comfort and go down like pillows to. Excellent price and excellent product. I run the QVC Addicts board and have posted about this and so many have ordered and i keep getting excellent feedback from them also.

30x72x2 and divide by 12, 3 times) and then divide the weight by this number. 8 pounds in this case. The high end is around 5 pounds per cubic foot.

You will find that sleeping on foams of different densities feels rough;y the same. The difference is in how long they last, the higher the density, the longer they will last.

Hopes this helps and sweet dreams.

This may sound strange, but my wife and I bought this as a topper for our memory foam bed! We bought the bed a year ago from that online "bed-in-a _ _ _ " place and loved it for about 4 months. Then the top layer of soft memory foam started to stay compressed against the much stiffer bottom layer of foam. We found out that the less expensive foam beds only have two layers of foam, with the top layer being light-weight and too thin. We started noticing pressure points, we'd awake in the middle of the night with arms or legs that ached or were totally numb, and the quality of sleep had greatly diminished. Not wanting to spend another $800 - $2000 on a new bed, we decided to try the 2" Visco2 Topper, based on the good reviews on Amazon. The topper brought us immediate relief. And our bed is now much cooler than it was before we added the topper. It's like a brand new bed! We love it. We're writing this review after only a week's use, so we can't say about the long-term durability of the topper. But the manufacturer claims that it won't be prone to compression or sagging like other foam products, so we're very hopeful. For now, we're really loving it. If we can get a couple years or more of comfort like we've had this week, we'll be ecstatic. If things change, I'll update this review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good mattress pad, ready for use immediately out of box, July 13, 2009
I bought this memory foam mattress pad because I recently have been waking up with back pains and that it might be due to the 9 year old mattress that I am using. After one week of this mattress pad my back pains have decreased (although to be fair I still do have some) and so I recommend it to anyone whose mattress is a little older and would like to get a few years more life out of it.

Unlike everyone else, I did not have ANY smell once I opened the mattress pad (even though I was expecting it based on reviews) and it opened up to full size immediately. I was able to use it the same night I received it! The queen size fits nicely under my sheets, is not hot (and I live in Arizona where it is HOT at night) and does what it advertises--makes your bed more comfortable.

Before I have always bought the 20-30 dollar egg crates, but for 90 dollars I would say this memory foam is worth it.

This review is from: Sleep Studio 2-Inch ViscO2 Ventilated Memory Foam Mattress Topper, King (Kitchen)
I bought this item when it was on sale and I couldn't be happier. I only needed the twin size, but the King was actually cheaper, so I bought the King and cut it into 2 twins. It's just a big comfy chunk of foam, so it was no problem to cut in half. The memory foam is so comfortable... my only worry is that when I go to college everyone is going to want to sleep in my bed because normal dorm mattresses just don't compare.

...did I mention FREE shipping!?!?!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Quite the "Memory Foam" you've seen advertised..., October 25, 2009

Remember seeing all the memory foam ads with the handprint and the hand just above the print? Remember how they showed the print in the foam, how it takes a while for the print to disappear? Well, you won't get that with this pad.

I've done my research now, and turns out the density matters, yet most cheap ones don't advertise their density because it's low (higher density = better foam = more expensive). I believe someone estimated this pad's density at about 2 pounds/square foot. Premium quality is about 5 lb/sq ft. This low density pad won't keep your hand print, instantly returns to its shape as you pull of your hand. In fact, it is literally impossible under normal conditions to make a photograph with this foam topper like you see with other foam ads... its just too low quality. So yeah, the price is great, and yeah, if you want a bit of padding, it might do for you. But for me, on my ultra-firm (read: too firm) mattress, I wanted to soften it up with this, and the result was my entire ribcage hurt after an 8 hour sleep. I tend to sleep on my stomach, but I toss and turn, so sometimes on my side, sometimes on my back. The other night, sleeping on my side, just the side I slept on, my ribcage on that side, ached all day. I had to by Tylenol to compensate for the new pad. I'm better off without the pad, so I'll be returning. I argue it isn't what you'd expect from memory foam, especially if you've sat in memory foam beds in the store, where they use premium foam of 5 lb/sq ft. Buyer beware!

Side note: I experienced very low smell, and it instantly expanded for full Queen size for me. I let it air out in my room with window open all day before putting it on the bed, underneath a waterproof mattress pad. I did flip it midway through the day when I was airing it out, but I just laid it on my bed to air out. I had no problems with odor or expansion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made me a believer, October 28, 2009

This review is from: Sleep Studio 2-Inch ViscO2 Ventilated Memory Foam Mattress Topper, King (Kitchen)
I decided to try this after sleeping in a hotel bed with a memory foam pad. I was a little skeptical after the first night or two with this one. I expected it to feel softer. But a few mornings later, it dawned on me that I'd been waking up completely rested. Truly not tired anymore. This had not happened to me...well, ever. I chalk it up to no more tossing and turning, just as advertised. Now I've got my groove worn into it and my bed has become the most comfortable I've ever slept in.

I had no issues with chemical odor or fit. I did let it air outside for a day or so before I put it on, but I don't think it was really necessary. And it fits my king size mattress perfectly.

I got this pad to use on the very old twin mattress I sleep on when I visit my mother in Buffalo. I got to use it last weekend for the first time and I had the best 3 nights of sleep I've had there in years. The pad is just the right combination of firm and soft. Definitely recommend this for anyone dealing with an old uncomfortable mattress.
