This review is from: SleepRight Standard Select Low Profile Night Guard, No Flavor (Health and Beauty)
Having never worn a night guard before, I was very happy that I ordered the low profile one. I have a small mouth and the adjustable sides enabled me to fit it just right. The tiny strip that fits across the lower bottom teeth holds it right in place when positioned according to the directions. I was afraid that it would keep me awake at night, but once I figured out the correct settings and placement, it was like wearing contacts; you don't really notice it if you don't think about it. It does seem to work better for me if I lie on my back and not on my side. The one thing that I didn't understand when I ordered it, was that this product is not made to bite down on, but to separate your teeth so that it re-trains your muscles to hold your jaw in the correct positon while you're sleeping so that you don't feel the need to clench at all. Surprisingly, I only have to wear it a once or twice a month. I have been clenching my teeth ever since I had my braces removed as a teenager. Over the years my subconcious clenching has caused stress cracks in my molars and migraine headaches. Wish I had gotten this 25 years ago.

Saving My Teeth,
I've been using this night guard for several years. I buy at least two at a time. The "mint" is ridiculous and lasts for one night but don't let this silly feature affect your decision.
I've been grinding for many years and I've worn a number of night guards, both hard and soft. This is the most comfortable and unobtrusive. I have never "rejected" it (spit it out) during the night as I have other guards. You know you're in trouble when you wake up without your guard, and find it under the bed! It is soft and comfortable, the low profile is much more comfortable than the regular Splintek. I'm a woman, normal arch. I'd say that the regular Splintek is more suited to a man or a pretty big woman. I agree with a previous reviewer that the pads could be replaceable, but at these prices I'm not sure it's necessary. Before I began using this guard I suffered several chipped teeth during the nights. I had problems with TMJ and headaches in the morning. If you grind ("brux") it's so important to get a comfortable guard. If you can't stop the grinding, at least minimize the damage. I'm comfortable at night, the Splintek handles the grinding, it's available without consulting a dentist, and the price is right. (Used to be about $60.) Highest recommendation!!
