I know it isn't supposed to, and I'm not complaining, but 'Dr. Brilliant' evokes both 'Scarborough Fair/Canticle' and 'Incense And Peppermints'. It's maddening. How do they do this? SLEEPER COACH is a mostly less accessible follow up to PAJAMA AVENUE - - the opener, 'Sea Bastards' sort of grinds its way into your subconscious, if not your heart; 'Underneath' is an audio hanging garden. Humid and green. Languid. 'Alleyville' explores that same hazily bright landscape that PAJAMA AVENUE's 'Back To Dangerous' did . . . In short, this is extroardinarily visual music. The closest SLEEPER COACH gets to conventional song structure is 'Don't Be Lonely' - - a song which manages to evoke all kinds of reasons for being just that. Intriguing.
