Essence® bestselling authors Wahida Clark and Kiki Swinson deliver a double-shot of street lit fiction--two novellas about women betrayed who are out for nothing less than revenge...

Enemy in My Bed
WAHIDA CLARK

She rules the weed scene in Memphis, USA. But Kreesha can't control the dangerous way she's feelin' about Reign--a brother who's married, just out of prison, and one strike away from lockdown-for-life. He's a past master of the game, and Kreesha can't get enough of his body or heart. But when Reign betrays her to the Feds, she'll risk everything to save her empire and give Reign one last seduction--with a bullet...

Keeping My Enemies Close
KIKI SWINSON

Larissa Taylor is fed up with lying, cheating men. Her best friend Tenisha's suggestion: try a guaranteed-to-be-faithful brother in prison. But Sean Miller is one thug-a-licious addiction. So, when a sex-struck Larissa is caught smuggling weed for Sean, she's the one who winds up behind bars. Now, Tenisha's got Larissa's man and baby. But Larissa is ready to go beyond even street justice to make sure her ex-friend and cheating man get the ultimate payback...

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

Two novellas from Clark and Swinson prove to be inaccessible to anyone not already familiar with street lit and will likely disappoint fans of the genre. In Clark's Enemy in My Bed, Memphis weed dealer Kreesha is in love with Reign, even though he's locked up and married to someone else. When he gets out of prison, she sets him up with a dealing business. When he gets busted, he turns on Kreesha and her crew, but Kreesha doesn't plan on going down easy. Swinson's Keeping My Enemies Close follows Larissa Taylor, who smuggles drugs into prison for her boyfriend, Sean Supreme Miller. She gets caught, and a pregnant Larissa eventually gives custody of her son to her friend Tenisha. Turns out, though, that Tenisha set her up, and now Tenisha has Larissa's son and man. When Larissa gets out of prison, there's a bloody payback. Unfortunately, the dialect is heavy, the language coarse and the characters little more than vehicles for playing out revenge fantasies. 3.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTED!!, August 8, 2008
This review is from: Sleeping With The Enemy (Paperback)
Wahdia Clark dropped the ball with this one. "Enemy in my bed" was choppy, the switch between first person and third person narratives WAS A MESS! WHO WAS TELLING THE STORY! Thank god at some point she started to name the person who was speaking so you can keep up. I Love Wahdia and think she's the "Queen Of Thug Literature, but how many ways can you tell a story about a ride or die chick who gets in a doomed relationship with a incarcerated married man, a naive wife accepts his jumpoff instead of leaving his a**, STUPID CHICK! A sorry a** thug who thinks he's "DA BOMB" because these asinine women can't get enough of his loving, Sick!! For me the story was dull and outrageous, but to Wahdia's credit she left a P.S. saying the story was written four years ago, thank god!

KiKi Swinson's "Keeping my enemies close", kept my attention. I enjoyed the story it was straight foward and precise, the plot was good and it even had some suspense. Tenisha's character the one who betrayed Larissa had you wondering what her motive was for doing her best friend SOOOOO DIRTY! The story could have easliy stood as a full novel, job well done.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sleeping With The Enemy, August 1, 2008
This review is from: Sleeping With The Enemy (Paperback)
In Wahida's Sleeping With The Enemy,we are introduced to Kreesha,a weed dealer in Memphis who is in love with Reign.Reign is married and locked up but once he gets out Kreesha puts him on.When he gets busted he has no problem snitchin' on Kressha and her crew...

In Kiki's Keeping My Enemies Close,Larissa is tired of men cheating and lying to her.Her best friend Tenisha suggest that she meet a guy who is in prison. She is hesitant at first but she meets Supreme and is attracted to him and later she smuggling weed to him.Larissa get's caught and ends up in jail.Larissa starts seeing Tenisha for who she really is and plots revenge on Tenisha and Supreme...

Although both girls were blind and so caught up in the love they had for their man,I found both stories to be fast paced and I really enjoyed them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Watch who you sleep with!, November 6, 2008

I've read work by both these authors previously and each has proved she has staying power within the literary circle; so it was a pleasure to meet Wahida Clark back in July and cop this new book.

Mad respect to Wahida, but I was a little dissatisfied with her entry "Enemy in My Bed" at first. Flopping between first person and third person definitely had me confused. But Ms. Clark comes through and tells a story that portrays true to life personalities. Nobody is perfect... some are damn right blind when it comes to someone they think they love. When the enemy is sleeping in the bed with you and is serving up betrayal kisses, what's a girl to do? Payback seems to be the order of the day here.

KiKi Swinson's offering "Keeping my Enemies Close" was enjoyable. I love how the story went down from beginning to the very end. The disloyalty uncovered in this story was excellent and Ms Swinson cultivated the hidden revenge oh so well!

Both stories will have you taking a second look at who you are sleeping with!

Essence Bestselling Authors Wahida Clark and KiKi Swinson have partnered to bring their fans two unique styles... all in one book.
