3.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTED!!, August 8, 2008
Wahdia Clark dropped the ball with this one. "Enemy in my bed" was choppy, the switch between first person and third person narratives WAS A MESS! WHO WAS TELLING THE STORY! Thank god at some point she started to name the person who was speaking so you can keep up. I Love Wahdia and think she's the "Queen Of Thug Literature, but how many ways can you tell a story about a ride or die chick who gets in a doomed relationship with a incarcerated married man, a naive wife accepts his jumpoff instead of leaving his a**, STUPID CHICK! A sorry a** thug who thinks he's "DA BOMB" because these asinine women can't get enough of his loving, Sick!! For me the story was dull and outrageous, but to Wahdia's credit she left a P.S. saying the story was written four years ago, thank god!

KiKi Swinson's "Keeping my enemies close", kept my attention. I enjoyed the story it was straight foward and precise, the plot was good and it even had some suspense. Tenisha's character the one who betrayed Larissa had you wondering what her motive was for doing her best friend SOOOOO DIRTY! The story could have easliy stood as a full novel, job well done.

In Kiki's Keeping My Enemies Close,Larissa is tired of men cheating and lying to her.Her best friend Tenisha suggest that she meet a guy who is in prison. She is hesitant at first but she meets Supreme and is attracted to him and later she smuggling weed to him.Larissa get's caught and ends up in jail.Larissa starts seeing Tenisha for who she really is and plots revenge on Tenisha and Supreme...

Although both girls were blind and so caught up in the love they had for their man,I found both stories to be fast paced and I really enjoyed them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Watch who you sleep with!, November 6, 2008

I've read work by both these authors previously and each has proved she has staying power within the literary circle; so it was a pleasure to meet Wahida Clark back in July and cop this new book.

Mad respect to Wahida, but I was a little dissatisfied with her entry "Enemy in My Bed" at first. Flopping between first person and third person definitely had me confused. But Ms. Clark comes through and tells a story that portrays true to life personalities. Nobody is perfect... some are damn right blind when it comes to someone they think they love. When the enemy is sleeping in the bed with you and is serving up betrayal kisses, what's a girl to do? Payback seems to be the order of the day here.

KiKi Swinson's offering "Keeping my Enemies Close" was enjoyable. I love how the story went down from beginning to the very end. The disloyalty uncovered in this story was excellent and Ms Swinson cultivated the hidden revenge oh so well!

Both stories will have you taking a second look at who you are sleeping with!

Essence Bestselling Authors Wahida Clark and KiKi Swinson have partnered to bring their fans two unique styles... all in one book.

3.0 out of 5 stars ..., November 24, 2011

Enemy In my Bed by Wahida Clark- I did NOT like her store at all. the stuff that these females did for this dude pissed me off. There's noway I would put up with a ninja that long knowing he's not going to change a got dag-on-thang. At the end of her part it says that it was written in 2004; well she should have left it in 2004 because it was crap.

Keeping My Enemies Close by Kiki Swinson- Now her part of the book was good which is why I giving the book 3 stars. Kiki's part could have been a stand-alone-book. It was very predicable; I knew who did what, why, and what was going to happen next. But all-in-all, it was still a good book....on Kiki's behalf.

Let's not get it twisted. I love Wahida's thug series and a few other books that she wrote, but her part of the book should not have been.

This would be the first time reading one of Kiki's books for me. So whit that being said, I think I will buy more of her work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sleeping with the Enemy Review, October 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Sleeping with the enemy was a good read, it was two novellas, one by Wahida and the other by Kiki. I really enjoyed them both, but I am a sucker for happy endings, so all I will say is one story ended happy and the other had a sad ending. I recommend Wahida Clark's books first and foremost because that's my gurl!!
