Book Description

When your life plan falls apart, you turn to plan B; but if you don’t have a plan B, then you turn to the Comfort Club. Four women. Four stories.

Zoe Robinson—a control freak mother of four—has been celibate for the past two years after her husband decided he didn’t want to be married anymore. She’s come to like sleeping in the middle and has no intention of shopping her granny panties and ultra-support bra around anytime soon. Her focus remains on taking her party planning business to the next level, despite her ruthless competition. Zoe is determined to succeed without the help of her persistent mother, her meddling comfort club sisters, or the charming doctor—Chaz Anderson—who’s more than willing to help with an offer she’s finding hard to refuse. As if that isn’t enough, a phone sex bandit is circulating 1-900-DO-ME-NOW flyers and Zoe’s rebellious daughter is the main suspect. Zoe must decide whether to stay in control and in the middle, or choose a side and let someone in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable and Amusing. August 6, 2012

I found this a light swift entertaining read, with a genuine laugh out loud moment in the opener (hubby came into the room to ask what I was giggling over so much). I quite liked the main character, many of her insecurities I could easily understand if not always relate to and that made the daft situations they led her into at least plausible if not completely believable in how frequently they occured, but hey thats why its rom-com fiction afterall!

The circle of friends were amusing and while they didn't always get it 'right' they seemed to be really trying to look out for Zoe, even when that involved pushing her to do things which she was scared of. I liked how sincere Chaz was, enough to feel like tutting at how Zoe treats him at times, which gave believable depth to their developing relationship and had me cheering for him. One or two curve balls for me were how one dimensional/cliché Zoe's nemesis was, and the sudden revelation towards the end was out of the blue and just dropped in and then left untouched which was confusing after hints through the story that something was brewing. Perhaps that's meant to be another story, but it was distracting and clunky. A letter and a phone call Zoe receives in the final stages are similar, tossed into the mix in such a brief way that it seems like its merely ticking off the box to mention it.

This isn't going to be everyone's type of humour; the at times mortifying antics of a woman out of her depth, but it tickled me enough to be an enjoyable read overall.

Love it. Nothing like meddling friends and relatives for force a heroine out of her comfort zone and into the rest of her life. This story kicks ass! Can't wait for the next.
