More About the Author

New York Times and USA Bestselling Author, S. L. Scott, was always interested in the arts. She grew up painting, writing poetry and short stories, and wiling her days away lost in a good book and the movies.

With a degree in Journalism, she continued her love of the written word by reading American authors like Salinger and Fitzgerald. She was intrigued by their flawed characters living in picture perfect worlds, but could still debate that the worlds those characters lived in were actually the flawed ones. This dynamic of leaving the reader invested in the words, inspired Scott to start writing with emotion while interjecting an underlying passion into her own stories.

Living in the capital of Texas with her family, Scott loves traveling and avocados, beaches, and cooking with her kids. She's obsessed with epic romances and loves a good plot twist. She dreams of seeing one of her own books made into a movie one day as well as returning to Europe. Her favorite color is blue, but she likens it more toward the sky than the emotion. Her home is filled with the welcoming symbol of the pineapple and finds surfing a challenge though she likes to think she's a pro.

“My work was more important than love, and now I'm paying the price for it.”

For six years Lydia and Chase have been best friends. On the night before Lydia moves across the country to NYC their relationship shifts. This is a romance story many of us have dreamed, boy and girl don’t realize they love each other until it is too late; however where other authors would write one chapter dealing with the fateful night, SL Scott weaves the details from that night throughout Lydia’s journey of discovery and the years she bears the responsibility of changing the rules on one of the most important people in her life.

"Sounds exciting. All your dreams have come true, Lydia. You must be happy." I look back up, directly into his eyes. "Dreams, happiness… hmmm, maybe. I don't really know anymore."

This short story wastes no time getting to the deep emotions of Lydia and Chase’s relationship. Lydia is too focused on her career to allow anyone into her heart, and Chase loves her too much not to give Lydia what she needs, the strong support of a friend. S.L. Scott writes words so perfect that no matter the length; short-story or full length book, I feel an intense connection with her characters. Every character plays a meaningful role; there was a time I wanted to high-five one of their friends through my e-reader for saying what I so wanted to tell Lydia.

This is a fantastic short read, pick it up - you will read it again and again.

Sleeping with Mr. Sexy is one of those cute friends to lovers books, which at times will make you want to jump into the pages and slap a character. Over the course of about two years, we get to explore the relationship between Lydia Nichols and Chase Andrews, who have been best friends for roughly six years.

The book starts with the night before Lydia leaves San Francisco and moves to New York to pursue her dream career. At her going away party, after a few drinks, Lydia and Chase decide to follow their hearts and go after what they really want, each other. The next morning, Lydia awakes to discover that she's made a terrible mistake of sleeping with her best friend and runs off to New York without ever looking back. For his part, Chase tries desperately to contact Lydia but she refuses to take any of his phone calls or texts.

While I can say I really liked this book, bordering on loving it, the one thing I really didn't like was that it went back and forth between the present and the past without any indication that you were traveling back in time.

Sleeping with Mr. Sexy is a story about what happens to a group of friends when one or two decide to change the dynamics of the group. We're allowed to see the mistakes and realizations Lydia and Chase make with each other and their lives, and we get to see what happens when one friend has had enough.

S.L. Scott is the Queen of the short story. She always manages to draw you in and make all of the main characters well rounded and give you a satisfying, if not amazing ending.

I picked up Sleeping with Mr. Sexy and then didn't put it down (I may have even read while eating dinner out with my family). From page one I was sucked in. This story is wonderfully written and I felt a strong connection to all her characters. It made me want to jump into the story and tell them what to do! This story is fast-paced yet gives you details that give it the depth needed to really feel like you are a part of the story. If your looking for a great short read, love wrong place/wrong time, friends turned lover stories, this book is for you.

Sleeping with Mr. Sexy is a story about best friends, Chase and Lydia, who became lovers and then became nothing to each other because of Lydia's pride and ambitions.

Sleeping with Mr. Sexy was a good and sentimentally sweet story. However, there were some challenges that kept it from being a great story for me. One primarily being Lydia who was very irritating. She could have had Chase freely when they were in college but never pursued a relationship with him but the minute he shows interest in someone else she becomes insanely jealous and tries to stake her claim. Her leaving like a thief in the night and ignoring his texts didn't sit well with me. She treated him like he was the one who did something wrong when she was the one in complete fault. I seriously wanted to punch her in her throat...........hard. I liked Chase and thought that he was a stand up guy in spite of Lydia's foolishness.

The second reason the story did not rate higher than three stars for me was because of the haphazard time transitions. One minute you're in the present and the next you're in the past with no obvious warning. In one paragraph the reader could be in the past and present. Very disturbing to the fluidity of the story. The story would have been a solid four stars in the transitions were smoother.

Overall, Sleeping with Mr. Sexy was a quick read that was cute and sweet but leaves no lasting impression.
