I would not recommend paying the full price for this book. Robyn harbored ill feelings toward Clay because he didn't want to kiss and take advantage of a sixteen-year-old girl when he was 23 years old. So, up until the age of 28, Robyn remained the scorned victim and held on to angry feelings until close to the end of the book. I just couldn't believe someone being 28 yrs. old would carry on the way she did. And towards the end she realizes that Clay is her one soul mate and loves him. Why? She showed no feelings of love and caring for him throughout almost the entire book. Maybe lust, but that's it. Not one of Brooks better books.

This book shows how human Robyn Brett truly is, she fell in love at the tender age of 16 with Clay Lincoln an adult of 23 and like most 16 yr-olders she is crushed when he doesn't return her love... This colors the rest of her life with the male gender.
I don't understand why the other reviewers didn't find this to be typical of a 16 yr-olders, who thinks she is an adult, all 16 yr-olders think they are adults. Notice I said think they are adults, we as adults know better, except when we were 16.
I was raped at 16 and had a child by that rape at the age of 17, that was over 40 yrs ago, and a few things have changed. 1.if a girl is in a mans house that doesn't give him the right to rape her; 2. a man over 21 who rapes a 16 yr-old is put on a list as a pedophile. And yes this has colored my whole life.
So our girl is so in love she can't see straight, and even though Clay is attracted to her he is engaged to be married. He goes back to the U S and tries to break off his engagement, but the woman he was engaged to was a nut case, she pretended she was going to kill herself if he didn't marry her. And it didn't take long for him to find he was in way over his head. This caused him to become distrustful, until he got word from Cass Robyn's older sister that Robin needed a silent partner, I guess it's called a sleeping partner in the U K.
Robyn is running a successful business but she needs to expand to keep up with other PR firms. The bank won't help, but Clay does.
This opens the door for Clay to be in Robyn's life, what he doesn't realize is the man who hurt her, is him.

I could not finish this book since it was obvious that the main character Robyn needed some intense psychological therapy. I can understand her being hurt and deeply embarrassed by the cruel rejection she received at Clay's hands at the tender age of sixteen. However, it was just a kiss and some heavy petting - just one incident. To hang on to the hurt for twelve years is very unhealthy to say the least! And to have Robyn hang on to anger and hurt for almost the entire book is just plain boring and frustrating for the reader. Do yourself a favor and skip this book.

All I can say is agree with all the above. I should have read your reviews before buying this book. Well, at least I bought it used. Please, please don't buy this book it was horrible. This girl Robyn is sick, sick, sick. This is a person who is supposed to be a business woman? This is the worse HP I've ever read!!!!!!!!

I, too, would give this book a 0 star if I could. Thankfully I only spent a whole wopping $0.69 on it or I'd be extra upset. If the author could get this published, it makes me think that I might be able to write and publish my own book!

The entire book is taken from 1st-person view - a businesswoman named Robyn trying to save her struggling PR company. Robyn has no concept of the terms "poise" and "dignity" or "maturity." She portrays redheads as shrewish, temperamental, spiteful, egocentric ppl (I'm a brunette, by the way, in case U're wondering). You don't really know what the other characters feel or think, which is a key element in all truly great books. The only redeeming trait about this book were the last 5-7 pp. (if U make it that far), where she finally acts like a "normal" human being and you actually see Clay acting like realistic man. Clay is the guy who is ~7 yrs. her senior, who broke her heart when she threw herself at him when she was 16. What sane man wdn't want to avoid child molestation charges? All in all, U'll find more satification spending your time on something else.
