I read this book directly after reading "The Big Drop". By comparison, this book is more surface stories. Some of the same tales were told but here it was like the stories were being retold by someone who had heard them with someone else and relays them with no research. Also, this book goes through some stories that are really not about surfing. This book was adequate, but it didn't project the passion of other books I have read about surfing. It's like going to the bar, listening to your buddies tell surf stories without knowing if they're true. But maybe that's good enough.

My husband and I both loved this book. He picked it up and didn't put it down, only pausing to read me some of his favorites. I appreciated hearing the stories from the early days of Hawaii and California surfing from the people who were part of that small group of surfers. What characters they were! Mr. Wolf was one of them and is able to describe the scenes and the characters in a way that brings the reader right into the action in just a few words! Get this book!

Found this book to be very enjoyable. Its always nice to read accounts of surf stories from authors who were really there.Told in a very witty, fireside chat kinda way, the informalness of the writing is very refreshing. I'm definately going to reccomend this book to all my friends and family.

Another collection of short stories from around the surfing world. Good for those flat, swelless days which seem to spring up with monotonous regularity.

For all surfers, all that know the water, and I assume most non-surfers, this is a wonderful book of many short stories. These stories are hilarious, serious, awing, and informative. All surfers, boaters, life-guards are guaranteed a laugh. This book shows how crazy people are when they do not know how powerful nature is, and how rescuers deal with them in a hilarious way. Others, are serious do to death. This has informed me of the medicines you can buy for poisonusous animals. Over all, I loved this book and read it over, and over. I strongly suggest this.
