5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read!, October 8, 2010
This review is from: Sleeping Dogs Lie (Willow Falls Mysteries) (Kindle Edition)
What a delightful read! Sharon expertly brings her characters to life. You will find yourself laughing out loud at some of their antics. You will love Emily Ann and Jack, the two "canine" humans. I found myself not wanting to do anything but keep on reading. Her chapter ending cliff hangers, complete with murder and kidnapping propel you through the book. I can hardly wait for the sequels.

Fun book to read! Fast moving. You won't get bored. Louisa is not your typical thirty something beauty, more like fifty something and over weight. She meets this guy, Bob, and things start moving fast. There's lots of mystery and of course murder, along with a kidnapping. You'll love their dogs Jack and Emily Ann. There are scenes in the book that I still laugh about when I think of them. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

I just received my Kindle and came upon this book looking for a nice, easy read. It was much more than that. I loved the characters! I look forward to a sequel with Louisa and Bob and another enjoyable mystery together along with their dogs, Jack and Emily Ann. Maybe a dog-napping caper?

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and funny mystery, December 27, 2011
This review is from: Sleeping Dogs Lie (Willow Falls Mysteries) (Kindle Edition)
First, a disclaimer. I've known the author for ten years, but didn't know she'd written a book until after she retired and I received a notice about her second book. At first, I was reluctant to read it because, after all, what if it was terrible? So, I had my mother read it first and after she told me how much she liked it, I decided to take the plunge. And devoured the book in one sitting! There are a few editing errors (missing words), but even Tamara Pierce's books have those (lack of good editing these days is a real peeve of mine). Great characters, especially Louise's sister. Our hero is not a Fabio heartthrob, our heroine is smart mouthed and sarcastic, and the dogs are adorable. There are laugh out loud moments and enough moments of suspense to keep the book moving. An unexpected plot twist adds to the enjoyment. If you like Sue Ann Jaffarian's Odelia Gray mysteries, then this new cozy series will be right up your alley.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down!, April 10, 2011

I loved it! The dogs and the characters were all great. It was definitely a page-turner, I hadn't read one so good in a long time! Everyone in the story seemed very real and I loved all the plot twists. I was lucky enough to preview her next book, and was thrilled to meet all the same people! I follow her blog, the Queen of Fifty Cents, as well, and she's a wonderful writer. I hope she continues - I can't wait to read more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Characters who become your friends, April 3, 2011
This review is from: Sleeping Dogs Lie (Paperback)
Don't get me wrong - the baddies are suitably bad and the plot is thrilling. But it is the sympathetic and very real main characters (dogs and humans) in this book who have stayed in my mind - in some way they have become part of my mental landscape and I rather expect to meet them one day. I certainly intend to 'meet' them in the next installment!

I ordered Sleeping Dogs Lie after following Sharon on her blog "Queen of Fifty Cents". I am so glad I did. This was a "can't put it down once you start" book. The characters are so funny and very real. I loved the dogs and their antics. I am looking forward to Sharon's next book. When I say you will Laugh Out Loud, I mean it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Clever and fun plotting, March 31, 2011

I read Henegar's book after following her blog "Queen of Fifty Cents" for a while. Her novel "Sleeping Dogs Lie" was so enjoyable. I liked the characters immediately and wished I had a friend just like Louisa. The book is well written and has wonderfully unexpected plot twists. I consider it a nearly perfect mystery. Her upcoming new novel "In Dogs We Trust" is even better than the first. I was lucky enough to preview it. The characters are fleshed out more, and the plot twist was breath taking. You should read it immediately upon release.

This was the first book I read on my new Kindle and loved it. The author brought out the characters cleverly and the plot twisted and turned. Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars More, please!, December 14, 2010

Light a fire, pour a cup of tea, and enjoy an evening with your Kindle and this engaging cozy mystery from Sharon Henegar. Louisa's and Bob's adventures--and misadventures--kept me up way past my usual bedtime. While dogs, amateur detectives, and offbeat plots are frequently mixed in novels these days, Ms. Henegar displays a deft, creative hand as the story unfolds. Ms. Henegar is off to a great start with the Willow Falls series--how long must I wait for a sequel?
