5.0 out of 5 stars I love this album
I really enjoy this album. The songs are all good, very good in fact, and Haydain Neale has a great voice, perfect for soul music. I could listen to this album all day and never get tired of it. Even the hit songs never seem to get annoying to me, from being overplayed, unlike a lot of songs on the radio. I recommend this album highly. Anyone who enjoys Seal will love...

3.0 out of 5 stars Alright
The main thing i like bout this dude is his hair! LOL. His cd's alright but it gets boring after the 2nd listen. The tunes have no real "feeling" or "message" at all. It's mostly a big sappy love letter for those of ya who are interested

4.0 out of 5 stars "Can't Stop" elevates Jacksoul above run-of-the-mill, January 22, 2005

There haven't been many songs like "Can't Stop" by Jacksoul over the last 20 years. Literally reeking of obsession, the song is a throwback to the great rock and soul music of a bygone era that dealt with this universal (but now taboo) subject in a way that everyone can understand. "Have you ever loved something so bad?...I start scaring myself/I start to question my own mental health..." "Sometimes I feel like we're soldiers marching forward, forcing onward." This is frightening stuff. This isn't some guy with a crush. This is right up there with "Elusive Butterfly," "Goin' Out Of My Head," or "I (Who Have Nothing)"-it describes that moment when the line between pleasure and pain is finally, irrevocably blurred, and it's one of the best singles of the last decade. It deserves comparison with the classics listed above, and if there is any justice, it will one day attain that same type of classic status itself.

Sadly, there is little or no justice (as the beleaguered narrator of "Can't Stop" can already attest), and Jacksoul's popularity is confined to Canada, which is a shame. In a country that has room for one homogenized teen pop "sensation" after another, Jacksoul will likely be forever ignored due to the similarity of this music to that of Seal. Too bad, because Haydain Neale has a fine voice for the (mostly above-average) material that makes up the remainder of SLEEPLESS; given a transcendent song like "Can't Stop," it is as powerful an instrument as you will hear on a modern record. Don't believe "Can't Stop" can possibly be THAT fantastic? Give it a spin, and I promise you'll understand. For anyone out there with unrequited love burning in his/her heart, "Can't Stop" is essential listening.

The booklet doesn't have the lyrics, but there is a website address advertised in the booklet that has them.

Jacksoul is one cool individual, musically speaking. Great CD, sounds like other British soul artists and reminds me of Seal. Very enjoyable listening for the soul...

Soulful and Passionate lyrics give this album haunting songs that will stay with you long after you have stopped listening to it! But you will find yourself listening to it over and over again! I recommend this album to all of those who like great voices, arrangements, and lyrics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Too bad for those people who do not live near Canada..., June 23, 2006
This review is from: Sleepless (Audio CD)
If you do not live near the Canadian border and are a U.S. citizen then you are missing some great music! I have been trying to get the time to get over the border to buy Jacksoul's albums and just have not gotten there yet...This band is infectious (in a very good way) and there are a lot of people missing this...
