Robert Muchamore was born in Islington in 1972. He still lives there, and works as a private investigator. He was inspired to create the CHERUB series by his nephews' complaints about the lack of anything for them to read! CHERUB: The Recruit was Robert's first book and won the Red House Children's Book Award 2005 in the Older Readers Category.

I purchased the "Cherub" series books for my son when he was 14. He never liked reading and it had always been a struggle to keep him interested in a book for school work. He read through the first book in 24 hours and asked me to please order more. He has read all of the series three times and started reading the "Henderson Boys" series when he ran out of the other one. He is 17 now and still waits for any new releases from either series. I recommend these books not only for avid readers of this age, but strongly for kids who haven't found the right book yet.
