Editorial Reviews

Review

“Wolitzer’s gift is being able to sense the tragicomic aspects of both childhood and adulthood and to describe them to us in a voice that is always lucid, insightful and, most of all, tempered with the hard-won wisdom of compassion.”— The New York Times Book Review

Praise for Meg Wolitzer

“Wolitzer is as precise and rigorous an observer of social status as Tom Wolfe; she is as incisive and pitiless and clear-eyed a chronicler of female-male tandems as Philip Roth or John Updike. . . . She writes about life at eye level. . . . Wolitzer is terrific at depicting the ambiguity of modern family life, its murky choices and thorny dilemmas.”—Chicago Tribune

“All of Wolitzer’s characters are so articulate and insightful that it’s a pleasure to listen to them think. . . . [Her] scenes are intensely observed and nuanced.”—The Atlantic

About the Author

Format: Paperback
"Sleepwalking" a novel by Meg Wolitzer provides a wonderful, sensitive set of interlocking stories of quitting, persisting, and love..Wolitzer' words, simple, clear, vibrant make pages fly.. The events at first seemed implausible, then I realized that the story had power in simultaneously being surprising and universal. Powerful. On the Gerald Rosen scale I give it a leaves me feeling "stronger". Thank you Meg Wolitzer!

I've read every book that Meg Wolitzer has written. I've loved them all, including this one. What humbled me about this book was that she wrote this when she was in her early 20's, something that attests to the mastery of her craft. The characters are vulnerable and resilient, something that spoke to me in particular. I felt as though I was sitting in the room watching the story unfold.

I like how she showed the different ways people deal with losing a loved one. I love how the author had a realistic yet hopeful ending. It was a great read because I was so engrossed in this story that time just flew by and I couldn't put my Kindle Fire down!!

More About the Author

I am a fiction writer who, like most writers, is happiest when I'm working. I have somewhat erratic work habits, and can go for weeks without producing much, then suddenly find myself in a whirlwind of productivity that lasts a long time and occupies most of my waking hours. Between those productive bouts I tend to read a lot, mostly contemporary novels, an activity that serves as a kind of re-fueling that I seem to need. I love being excited and keyed up by other people's novels; the best of them remind me of how powerful fiction can be.
