5.0 out of 5 stars Another good buy.
I bought this blanket to start with in 2005. In June of this year (2008) the controller on my husbands side had an error code, which, according to West Point Home, was an error code for a wire short in the blanket. It was no suprise. My husbands side gets sat on alot and the blanket itself was showing wear. I had already planned to buy another. The customer reviews...

1.0 out of 5 stars Same problem everyone else has with controller - piece of junk.
We had the unit for two months before one of the controllers started giving an E 4 error message. Keep you documentation including receipt and warranty. West Point has a web-site designed to avoid customer interaction. The only way you will find out where to send the broken controller is on the warranty form.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN... YOUR PRODUCT SUCKS. I WOULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS GIVEN THE CHOICE. THIS $95.00 BLANKET LASTED ABOUT AS LONG AS IT TOOK TO TAKE IT OUT OF THE PACKAGE IT WAS WRAPPED IN. I WOULD NOT RECCOMMEND THIS "HEATING BLANKET POSER" EVEN IF IT WAS FREE. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME, MONEY AND SHIPING COST TO ME! IF ANYONE OUT THERE WOULD LIKE TO TRY MY BROKEN BLANKET JUST SEND ME AN EMAIL, I WILL SAVE YOU $90 BUCKS. respectfully yours -ACOFFEY

1.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Blanket But Not Enough Heat, December 17, 2006
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My trusty electric blanket finally wore out, and so I purchased this Sleepwarmer. My bedroom often drops to 63 degrees at night and my old blanket kept me perfectly warm at a heat setting half way up its dial.

I find that with the new sleepwarmer I have to turn the dial all the way up to high and I am still not warm enough. It's a very nice blanket, but that's not enough. The instructions say that no part of the blanket my be tucked in, whereas with my old blanket it was permissible to tuck in the edges.

The Sleepwarmer has a special "warm up setting" which rapidly heats the blanket to a temperature that is one setting higher than you want. This is useful to heat the blanket just before you hop in bed, but if you wake up cold in the middle of the night this special setting is useless as it super heats the blanket for one hour before it turns its thermostat down to where you've set it. Why one hour? Who knows.

In summary I have to toss this brand new, expensive blanket because it simply doesn't provide enough heat even at its top setting to keep me warn in a 63 or 64 degree room. Now if your room doesn't get this cold you might give it a try, but I find that even at 67 degrees I have to turn it way way up.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware -- Controller Malfunction, January 24, 2007
By
I had the same problem as everyone else -- after less than a month this blanket is useless because of the malfunctioning controller. No way to fix and unable to return to Amazon because it was ordered longer than 30 days ago (Xmas gift for one of my roommates).

What an incredible waste of money - the first time in 10 yrs I have been disappointed with Amazon service (or lack thereof).

2.0 out of 5 stars disapointed buyer, January 19, 2007
I received the sleepwarmer blanket last week and have been very disapointed--it is just not warm enough!! Even on the highest setting it doesn't get warm enough initially. It is fine for keeping warm during the night but I want to be able to turn it down to keep warm and have it pretty hot in the beginning and that is not at all what this does. It is nice and soft but you can absolutely feel the wires as well. Not worth the money at all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stopped working, January 17, 2007

This electric blanket has the nicest texture of the last "five" electric blankets we have purchased. However it stopped working within a month, like the other four. Who makes a realiable electric blanket? Not Sunbeam and not this brand. Since the texture on this one is nice, we can at least keep it as an extra cuddling blanket.

2.0 out of 5 stars it was good until it broke, January 12, 2007
I've had this blanket for less than 2 months. Some 5 inches of snow has dropped suddenly around my house, so it is cold. So I've been using this blanket every night for the past week up until 3 days ago when I tried to turn it on, and the control display wasn't responding. just blank, as if the blanket was off. I came back after an hour, and the blanket had turned on and was hot, even though the display was blank. Also, the controller was very hot. I think it overheated and burnt something inside the controller because it was giving off this slight burnt smell. I will be returning this product if possible, and buying another. not sure if I want to chance buying the same model or not. I am cold.

Before it broke, it worked fine on top of my comforter. I like that it has auto-shutoff after 9 hours, but many blankets have that feature today. It was surprisingly heavy to move around, so I left it on my bed. It doesn't work very well if you want to wrap it around your body and sit. the heat seems to escape.

1.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Blanket with Unfortunate Controller Problem, February 14, 2007

We purchased the blanket because we felt it was superior in quality. Since it costs at least double what common blankets cost, it seemed likely that the company had done it right. Unfortunately, the first blanket controller started giving an E3 error within two weeks. We followed the instructions to try to reset it and that didn't work. We exchanged the blanket hoping the replacement would function properly.
After three weeks a new controller began displaying the E3 error.
When we plugged the other side's controller in, it worked. We tried to
contact the manufacturer to request a new controller and to see it they
had addressed the issue with a new design but it was impossible to reach them. Bottom line is we returned the second blanket and gave up.
Seems like the blanket is high quality and the electronics in the controller are not.
