My two year old enjoys this book quite alot. I am constantly surprised by the times and places she'll begin her yoga sessions, any where from the beach to the doctors office. Though I have not made it a part of our every day as I'd wanted to, the images and poses really seem to stick with her. Its a nice little book. Short and sweet, the poses are adapted for the very young, but if you have fun with it your child will too.

This is a great little book! The illustrations are just darling and there is a helpful little guide in the back of the book for parents. I read it to my 3 year old and she did the positions quite easily - the animal comparisons for each move seemed to be inspiring to her. My nine year old even liked particpating.I wish I had found this book sooner and plan on getting copies for my friends with toddlers/preschoolers.

A great introduction to yoga,

I wanted to teach my two year old some basic yoga positions and this book is a perfect starting point. Each page has a cute illustration showing how to do one pose (hang like a bat, curl up like a mouse, etc.) At the end of the book are photographs of an actual child doing each pose. This is a great book to introduce the concept of yoga to a little one.

My 1-1/2 year old loves to read this before bed and to try out the different poses. I'm not sure it actually makes her particularly sleepy but she enjoys it and it's fun to watch her blink like an owl. I like that in the back of the book there are more in depth explanations on how to do each pose.

I got this book for my 2.5 year old daughter; my only regret is that I didn't get it sooner! I've been trying to introduce her to the "basics" but without something to follow she hasn't been very enthusiastic. We started reading the book at bedtime, and we usually do it twice; once with the story, and then once with the pictures in the back. At the end, we practice "savasana" with the eye pillow on, and do the "aaahhh, shhhh" breathing.

This was a birthday gift for my two year old daughter, who likes to talk about what I do when I go to yoga class, and who has really taken a liking to the cat-cow pose I have shown her ("Meow, moo! Meow, moo!").She really enjoys this book. We do the poses together and she likes to copy me. She's still young to copy the pose from the book, but I wasn't planning on just sitting her down with the book and walking away, anyway. This was something we could do together. Highly recommended. Read through it once by yourself first so it's easier to move through the poses smoothly, without losing toddler interest.

Just the right amount of yoga for a small child,
This review is from: Sleepy Little Yoga: A Toddler's Sleepy Book of Yoga (Hardcover)
My 3- and 5-year olds did yoga before bed tonight. It was wonderfully focusing for them. The pictures are simple and clear, so when I pointed and said, "can you make your body do this?" the did - easily. They giggled at the bat pose - hanging upside down, but with each more relaxing pose, they calmed and moved toward rest. Delightful and a very soothing way to move toward bedtime. A hit with my family.

My granddaughter who is 2 and lives in another state has this book also. We skype regularly and I can read this book to her over skype and she shows me how she can do the poses and then off she goes to bed. Great FUN!

Love this book. I go to yoga & have heard the benefits of adapting the same concepts for children. I can hardly wait to show it to my 4 year old grandson - will be excited if it helps alleviate the "tired/wired" challenge. The best part is the use of animals for the poses - very cute! |
