5.0 out of 5 stars My Favourite of Many!
The Sleepy Wrap baby carrier is the best baby carrier I've ever owned. I don't say that lightly. I started wearing my babies when my first was born, over five years ago now. I've owned a Rebozo, Over the Shoulder Baby Holder, Kangaroo Adjustable Fleece Pouch, Ergo, Mama Baby Ring Slings, Shower Sling, Baby Bjorn, hmmm am I missing any? I wish that the Sleepy Wrap had...

3.0 out of 5 stars Strange contraption... just a long piece of stretchy cloth
I placed this on my registry because of the great reviews and because I felt like I needed some type of infant carrier or sling that would hold my daughter since she is so small. The conventional slings like Baby Bjorn or similar ones are too big for her right now. While this wrap holds my 7 week old securely, it takes some real skill to get this thing on in a way that...

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favourite of Many!, August 11, 2008
The Sleepy Wrap baby carrier is the best baby carrier I've ever owned. I don't say that lightly. I started wearing my babies when my first was born, over five years ago now. I've owned a Rebozo, Over the Shoulder Baby Holder, Kangaroo Adjustable Fleece Pouch, Ergo, Mama Baby Ring Slings, Shower Sling, Baby Bjorn, hmmm am I missing any? I wish that the Sleepy Wrap had been available with my first born. I wish that I hadn't been intimidated by baby wraps in the past. My husband thinks we should buy more of them, in many different colours! They are certainly affordable enough - for a baby carrier that is so easy to use, $34.00 is a steal of a deal, I doubt you could buy a similar, high quality fabric in the quantity needed for that price! The Sleepy Wrap is made out of a mainly cotton material that is similar to a cotton French jersey, very thick, soft and high quality; much thicker and more durable than the other knit fabrics I have baby carriers made of.

Our Sleepy Wrap, in red (available in a variety of colours to suit any taste), arrived before our new baby did. The first thing I noticed was that the instruction booklet was first class. Printed on glossy paper, full colour, step by step photographs and clear instructions. Though I had been intimidated and NEVER considered buying a baby wrap in the past (how complicated all that twisting and tying looked) I was surprised at how terribly easy it was to learn the basic ties. The first time I tied too loosely and my two year old was a bit timid in the carrier. So I tied on again, making sure to tie it snug, not leaving any extra room (don't worry, it will look like your baby won't fit in, but that is where the special, stretchy fabric comes into play) - and this time when I put her on she felt happy and secure. I haven't been carrying her in a sling or carrier much during this pregnancy, so she was out of practice, but she caught on very quickly.

The Sleepy Wrap is definitely one size fits all, from teeny tiny Mamma's to 9 month pregnant mamma's (like I was when mine arrived). My second daughter is a big two year old, over 30 lbs. and quite tall. Due to my pregnancy I tied the wrap under my belly, and it didn't make it around to the back again, but no problems! One thing I am very pleased with is that the circulation in her thighs was never cut off, her thighs never discoloured, the fabric never pinched, and it was very soft and comfortable against her legs. We've had problems with thigh constriction in other slings and carriers in the past - in order to get the child high enough and close enough to my body I had to cinch them in pretty tightly, sometimes resulting in thigh marks and discoloration....ick!

This is really the best carrier for getting your baby high and tight, once you have the wrap tied on snuggly, the rest is so simple, just pop your child in and you are ready to go with a high, tight, close, secure hold. Soon after my third baby was born, we got to try the wrap with her. Very easy to use with her as well. When she falls asleep I can cover her head with some of the stretchy fabric to keep it from being floppy.

I did get the ties to go around to my back again, but you can leave them on the front if they don't make it back around. I like to wear baby carriers with the fabric spread well over my shoulders and back for even weight distribution. I can do this so well with the Sleepy Wrap that I can hardly feel my baby on - more comfy than being pregnant! This miraculous stretchy fabric accommodates pretty near any size of child, just tying the carrier on snugly you can pop in either a newborn or a two year old, and you will still have a high, secure hold. This carrier will also fit any member of your family. My five year old likes to have me tie it on her so that she can carry her baby doll in it. She keeps volunteering to carry the new baby, but I think she needs to grow a little still before she can wear Sarah.

If you are a first time parent you can save yourself baby carrier buyer's remorse and just buy a Sleepy Wrap to start with. If you are an experienced parent, you may feel reluctant to buy yet another baby carrier, or you may have felt intimidated by wraps in the past - I know that I certainly did. I encourage you to step out in faith and buy a Sleepy Wrap as well, it is really the best carrier that our family has owned, and I only wish we'd had one for our previous children, particularly my very fussy firstborn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the Moby, December 16, 2008
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Before I bought this, I wondered if anything could work better than my Moby wrap, which my son loves. The sleepy wrap is better than the Moby. They are about the same length, but the Sleepy wrap fits both me and the baby better. I'm plus-sized, and even I could tie the wrap around my waist after crossing in front and going around my waist twice. I think the tighter tie makes the whole contraption more secure. The baby really does sleep better in this wrap than in my Moby (which I still use). If you are a fan of Moby wraps and are on the fence about ordering this one, do. It's a great wrap. Just make sure to tie it on tight per the instructions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great but not perfect, February 9, 2009
This review is from: Sleepy Wrap Classic Wrap Baby Carrier, Gray, 0-18 Months (Baby Product)
I bought this after I found out that the sling carrier we initially registered for has been recalled for safety issues. After reading the reviews on this site and looking at different pictures submitted from the users, it seemed like a no brainer to me. I really didn't know what I was getting.. just assumed that it'd be the same as any other sling carriers I've seen.

First of all, let me say that this carrier works great. Let me caution you, though, that this is not exactly a sling carrier in a technical sense. It's basically a long strand of elastic cloth that you wrap around your body a certain way to create spaces for your baby to sit in. Like I said, it works pretty well for the most part. But before you buy this, I'd like you to think about these facts. You might think they're stupid but I wish I knew them before I purchased it.

1. You can't just pick this up and put the baby in it like most sling carriers(at least the ones I've seen). For the most part, it's not that big of a deal to wrap this around your body and put the baby in but it does take some time and there are times I wish it wasn't as involved to set it up.

2. It takes some practice to get the tightness just right. If you wrap it too tight, your baby will pretty much suffocate... probably not... but you get the idea. If it's too loose, then the baby slides down. It'll still hold the baby but your baby will be on your stomach depending on his/her size. It's a problem when you have a newborn like me.

3. Inevitably, if you repeat the process of taking the baby in and out for whatever reason for a few hours, the carrier will get loose. At that point, you'll have to undo the carrier then rewrap it.

So basically, it all came down to convenience for me and my wife. Its elastic cloth is very well made. You can tell it's made with quality materials. When I put this on just right, I know our baby just loves it. Since it's entirely made of elastic material, it basically fits the baby perfectly and securely. However, we don't live in a perfect world where 3 week old infants patiently wait for you to pick him/her up. At least mine doesn't. That's when this carrier becomes a problem for me. Another thing I just remembered is that sometimes, it gets pretty hot wearing this w/ a baby in it. I live in Atlanta and we keep the temperature at around 66-68 degrees in winter (it's been around 3-40 degrees outside recently). It's not that big of a deal now but I'm not sure how it'll be in the middle of summer.

I will continue to use this carrier. I do believe it's a great idea and it's a very well made product. However, I will probably buy another carrier;namely Amy Coe sling from babies r us. One of our friends has one and it took about 30 seconds to put our baby in there and it won't get as hot in summer time because it doesn't enclose my baby like the sleepywrap does.

Maybe I should've done more research (I usually do), but this carrier wasn't exactly what I thought it was. I figured I'd let you guys know what I found out so you can make an informed decision. Hope it helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Long product life for the right price., August 11, 2008
I bought this when my second child was born, two years ago, and I am still using it now with him. It's much, much more comfortable than any other style of carrier I've tried. It's not nearly as fiddly as it looks and my baby was a very happy camper! If I were to have another child, I would be able to use this wrap for them as well as it's held up VERY well(through everything my son has thrown at it...and the washings upon washings which followed..). I'm definitely a fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars the best for newborns, May 5, 2009
I find this wrap better than a traditional carrier because it does more than just leave your hands free- it also swaddles the baby and lulls them to sleep with your movements. It does take a little longer to put it on (though not more than 20 seconds once you're used to it), but then you can leave it on even when you take the baby out, unlike a carrier. I'll just wear it right under my jacket if I drive my son somewhere and then pop him in it when I take him out of the carseat. I cut the extra length off so I can tie it in the back w/o the extra wraparound, and that makes it easier to get on and more comfortable to wear. The edge didn't fray, just curled up a little, so no sewing required to shorten it. Now that my son is 3 months I've worn him bjorn-style a few times, vertical and facing forward, and that works well, too. When he's tired I just turm him back to hammock, bringing his legs back in, w/o changing the tie of the wrap or anything. Overall, this has been my favorite baby item. Whenever my son starts being cranky but I need my hands for my 3-year-old, I just pop him in here and it is instant sleep.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love my sleepy wrap!!, August 11, 2008
This review is from: Sleepy Wrap Classic Wrap Baby Carrier, Gray, 0-18 Months (Baby Product)
First of all, I ordered from Sleepy Wrap on a Thursday afternoon, it shipped the same day, and I had it in the mail on Monday! Incredible service!

I was so excited to try it out with my five week old. The instructions were so easy to follow, and it was a snap to tie on. Putting my little one inside was a cinch from the first time. I love how he is snuggled inside and secure, and I can truly have my hands free. I have used ring and fitted slings in the past, as well as Snugli type carriers, but I really wanted my baby to be held closer to me and not lost in the fabric or limbs dangling. When I heard about the Sleepy Wrap, I had to try it. My friends from my Moms message board just raved about theirs, and now I know why! It's so perfect. The main concern I had at first was that the material looked heavy and would be hot. We live in the (hot and humid) South. This fabric is awesome- totally breathable, light, stretchy. I can't say enough about my Sleepy Wrap! I only wish I would have had one with my first two babies.

4.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!, July 5, 2009
By
mamma-2-one (San Francisco, CA) - See all my reviews
I'd say I got my $ worth out of this product after the first week of use. My daughter is in it ALL THE TIME. A quick trip up the stairs gets her to sleep (if she's gassy it requires a few rounds up and down...but I can use the post-pregnancy exercise ;-)

TIPS:

I use as exercise ball instead of an office chair at my computer desk, so I'm able to bounce her to sleep and keep her moving while sitting at the computer typing.

I usually put this on at home then wear it out so I can easily get her in and out w/o putting it on in public (it's not hard to put on, but long (like all wraps) so the bottom touches the ground).

If I have to put it on in public I do it at my car with the fabric sitting in a pile on the seat while I'm standing by the door.

Although it doesn't have a pocket, the piece of fabric the pulls up over babies bottom & back works well for sticking a pacifier in.

PROS:

Stretchy material makes it easier to put on snuggly then stretch to put the baby in.

Material also gives tiny bit of bounce when moving around (not sure if others consider this a + or not, but my daughter sleeps well in it).

Super easy to get baby in and out in the "love your baby" position (tummy to tummy).

Soothes my baby and keeps her close while giving me the freedom to still do everything I need to with my 3 yr old. I can also clean house with her in here...again, not sure how much of a + that really is.

CONS:

If looking to wear this in a variety of different positions and through toddlerhood, I've heard woven wraps are better for that (they cost more too and I plan to wear my Ergo carrier with her later which I absolutely loved w/ my son from about 6 months-2 years).

I kind of wish this came in different lengths b/c I'm short and thin and don't need to wrap it around my waist so many times. Not a big deal though. It also takes a few more seconds to put on than my Ergo (although I much prefer this to the ergo w/ infant insert...we'll be using the Ergo when my 2 month old has better head control).

I don't get much use out of my sit-n-stand stroller, lol.

I have so enjoyed my sleepy wrap I only wish I would have gotten it sooner! My husband and I (6'1" and 5'4" can both wear it with no problem and I can do everything around the house with both hands free. We love it on walks or out shopping. I would recommend it to anyone who wants their baby close while they are doing everyday things. The only down side is I live in a hot climate and having that much body contact in the summer gets a little warm.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have sling, July 11, 2008
By
This sling is the best purchase I made. They come in a range of colors, I am sure everyone can find at least one color they like. As far as I can tell it is like a moby although I have never owned one. Once you know how to wrap it using it has never been easier. It frees up your arms and allows you to carry out chores without anything holding you back. Also you are able to nurse hands free and discreetly. I also like that the sling has no pressure points so you can keep your baby in it for as long as you want to. My Little one will stay in the sling for hours when out although he can get tired and fussy in the stroller. The way the wrap goes round means that the weight of your little one is spread across you back in hips. In many ways I feel as though I am pregnant again. I truly cannot say enough great things about this sling. A great price and you will be the envy of all. I have had friends buy one because they have seen me use mine. I would recommend to all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Its a Wrap!, August 15, 2008
This review is from: Sleepy Wrap Classic Wrap Baby Carrier, Gray, 0-18 Months (Baby Product)
Let me begin by simply saying, "WOW"! THis simple, comfortable and inexpensive wrap made my afternoon right out of th package. After searching more than a few uncomfortable baby carriers with buckles, straps and odd weight distribution, this was like a breath of fresh air....and a weight off my back. Easy to use, and keeps my baby snug and safe, without extra strain on my back and shoulders.....I am done searching! I have found my carrier of choice. Excellent product, Thank you!
