About the Artist
For the last decade, no conductor has done more to introduce audiences worldwide to all genres of music in the symphonic format than Keith Lockhart. From the stage at Carnegie Hall to the Astroturf at Super Bowl XXXVI, the Boston Pops under his direction has earned its well-deserved moniker of Americas Orchestra. He as infused Boston Pops concerts with an indefatigable energy and enthusiasm, bringing new guest artists, arrangements and compositions to the stage of Symphony Hall in Boston. Named the 20th Conductor of the Boston Pops in 1995, he has led that group in more than 750 concerts and 26 tours, including four to Japan and Korea. He has led the Boston Pops in 38 Evening at Pops broadcasts, as well as the annual July Fourth broadcast from the Charles River Esplanade in Boston, which won an Emmy nomination in 2002.
In demand as a guest conductor worldwide, Mr. Lockhart has conducted the major symphony orchestras of Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Los Angles, Minnesota, Montreal, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Singapore, Toronto and Vancouver. Since 1998 he has been Music Director of the Utah Symphony.
SLEIGH RIDE marks his ninth recording with the Boston Pops. Two previous cds, The Celtic Album and The Latin Album, have earned Grammy® nominations.
