I bought this knife for cutting articles out of magazines and newspapers, on the theory that the ceramic blade would stay sharp longer than steel blades - paper is very abrasive. The ceramic blade isn't quite as sharp as say an Olfa knife with a fresh blade, but is plenty sharp enough.

The problem is that the ceramic blade is very small and white and is mounted in a cylindrical ferrule made of white plastic, making it very hard to tell exactly how the blade is oriented, so when one begins to cut, invariably the cut starts off at an undesired angle and drifts into the nearby text unless one is able to correct very quickly, and all cuts start with a wobble.

To help with orientation, I marked the plastic ferrule with a lengthwise black line (using a Sharpie), and this helps, but still isn't quite precise enough, forcing me to revert to the Olfa knife[...], which is also available on Amazon.

If the ceramic blade were part of a swivel knife (where blade is swiveled and automatically aligns itself, cutting straight even if one cannot see the blade), it would be far more useful.

Thought it would replace my fiskar hand cutter but it does not. It does cut easily when opening packages and is safer to use than a knife.
