Product Description

This negative / film / slide carrier fits our Bower slide copiers (Amazon catalog number B001AO1YBY). Velcro tabs (included) are necessary when using this carrier in combination with newer model Bower slide copiers.

*It will also fit the older Opteka model slide copier which comes with a slide carrier device that slides in and through the copier from the side - IT WILL NOT WORK with newer Opteka copiers that accept slides directly into the top of the copier without using a carrier.

This carrier enables copying from un-mounted 35mm negative, transparency strips, black and white film, even 35mm microfilm (will not directly handle COMIC oriented microfilm).

The opposite side of this carrier has a slide carrier slot designed for use with mounted 35mm slides: the slide carrier, when used in combination with our copier, helps to surround and flatten your mounted slide film against the copier, facilitating the best possible image quality.

Important Note: Spring tension within slide copiers varies widely. Sometimes copier springs are sprung very loosely from the factory, resulting in the negative carrier sliding right through without staying in place. If this is the case with your copier, you may need to remedy the problem by inserting a small screwdriver inside of the copier near the center of the leaf springs where the carrier goes, and gently pulling the middle part of the springs downward.

Please make sure that your particular camera, image editing software, or photo processor is capable of converting a negative image into a positive image if this is your goal for the negative carrier. The slide copier and negative carrier device will not do this conversion for you.

I am using it with the NIKON ES-1 52MM SLIDE COPYING ADAPTER on a Canon EOS 5D lens, with a macro extension tube (25+12 mm tubes needed on the cheap but efficient 50mm f1.8 lens). I am doing the negative/positive+orange mask removal with VueScan software. Faster, better and cheaper than any commercial slide/negative digitalization service.
It does NOT fit into the Opteka slot.

The product works just fine, but they and to send some velcro tabs I had to put on to help make it stay in place for use with the slide copier. It looks really cheap with that on, but wont work without.

I am so happy they made this, I was done copying my slides and coudn't figure out what to do with all my negatives, now they are all safe and digital.
